Hi all, this was my first time using a sewing machine. In addition to that, the fabric was all stretchy, making it a p.i.t.a to sew , jamming the machine every 100 or so stitches. Nonetheless, I think it looks OK. The bill is pressed cardboard from a sketchbook, that has been spraypainted black to be like the ersatzfiber bills. Enjoy! ;D Attachments:

I know its your first attempt and all but if you ABSOLUTELY need a crusher cap please just spend the extra $60 to buy a real reproduction. Dont cheap out on your kits or people will automatically look down on your whole impression. This isnt meant to be a post to make fun of your work at all just trying to look out for other members on the boards. www.mantheline.com/proddetail.php?prod=G081

Nice job, thats certainly not an easy thing to sew. I wish I would learn how to use a sewing machine. Would make my projects a lot easier. ;D

Thanks! Sewing machines really arent that hard to use. For my first cap(this) i found myself flooring the pedal, and losing control. The first band was ruined and thrown away. Also, you can get refurbished machines very cheaply. I'd highly reccommend trying it, as you'll get better with every try. And, if you're on a tight budget (im 13, so dont have a job) its a great way to get cheap uniform items. The first ones will be OK, like my crusher, but as you practice, you'll get better.

Issah. You keep practicing. I started sewing when I was your age and by the time I was out of school was able to make some of my clothing. It stood me in good stead when I was in the Navy and later, after marriage, I was able to , almost, teach my wife how to sew. A friend of mine sews leather holsters and the like and manny times they are sewn 1 stitch at a a time. Like when he is creating a custom matching set of holsters, wrist cuffs and spurs. He created a Hopalong Cassidy set for me, years ago, that went into a western museum just this last week. So, you never know where a particular skill will take you
