I currently have two complete Army HBT coveralls, 3rd pattern, that were gathering dust in my dad's garage. one is in fairly nice shape, and I will be using it as an aircraft mechanic's uniform/ impression for when I go with a friend of mine to airshows in his P-51. ;D The second pair has (had) a large rip down the lenght of the back center, which has been repaired to look like a field repair, and I would like to use it as a combat uniform for a US 1st Marine division impression. Basically, were army overalls worn very much in the Pacific as combat uniforms? I would think most likely they could have seen use in the early part of the Pacific campaign while production for the Marines was ramping up. Anyone have any info on this?

Unfortunately, they were not worn by combat troops. The USMC tries their own design of an overalls fatigue uniform when the camp uniforms came out but it was very unsuited to the jungle environment and was relegated to AA and artillery crews. The army version was not used at all, or in such limited numbers that they were very specific to certain small units that probably got them by trading army units.
