Is the event still on or did Sandy make that impossible?

Is the event still on or did Sandy make that impossible? I know Migs lives on Long Island, so I'd imagine he does not have power or internet. I would sit tight until Migs is back online.

I would also say wait for Migs, but the weather really wasnt that bad near GZA. I dont see any reason we wouldnt be able to play as far as field conditions go. I have no way of knowing if there are other circumstances though.

I say on with the show! I really hope there are no underlying factors keeping the event from happening. I know I have been looking forward to this for a while. But most importantly, my best wishes go out to anyone who have been affected by the storm. From where I am located, the storm really seemed to have a great deal of power. My heart goes out to anyone who may have been caught up in all that mess, I would hate to hear of anyone getting hurt. I wish the best for you all!

EVENT STILL ON! My area on Long Island has been clobbered by Hurricane Sandy but I'm very thankful that my Family is OK. I am still without power and hopeful to be back on the grid by this weekend. I found a free wifi zone and therefore I am able to post this. Please bare with me for next week or so as I am hopeful to get everything up and back to norm. GZA appears to be fine and no problem with forging a head with the event. Thank you all for your kind thoughts and prayers. To everyone else effected by this terrible storm, stay strong and God Bless. Migs

Glad to get your input and delighted to hear you are okay. Do you happen ro know if the CT to Long Island Ferry is running? I may (or may not) find that a better way to Southampton when I drive down from New Hampshire.

Well Hello Again. I'm back on the grid. My power came back EXACTLY one week to the minute it went out last Monday. Very creepy.
7 days without power really sucks. Thank God for all the airsoft/camping gear I have. It really came in handy. From the lanterns, to the sleeping bags, to the 5 gallon water can, to all the batteries I have, Thank God I over do it. ;D
I will be working diligently all week to give you all updates on the field and registration status. Thank you all once again for your patience and attention.
Stay tuned, Migs

Updates I spoke with GZA and the field is just fine. No worries there. As for the Registrations, they are a little light right now. As of right now, we have a shade under 20 registered. I know we traditionally are a little late to the dance when it comes to registrations, but we need to step it up as the event will be here in less than 3 weeks. Please remember you need to register if you are on the replacement list or not. Also, do not forget to take advantage of the prepay discount if your not on the list ($45). Prepay discount will be extended to next Tuesday, Nov. 13th at 2359hrs. Migs

I hope to send in registration this weekend-- I'm excited this is my first such event. Speaking of which, here's what I've been able to put together as an impression (I know some of the gear is not stowed right, and some is post-war). Just want to run it by y'all to see if it cuts muster. Constructive criticism is very welcome. Attachments:

So if he registers at the field will he have to pay. Please reply thanks. If he's on the replacement list, no he won't have to pay. What you can do is send me a PM on these boards to register on his behalf. If he's not on the replacement list, perhaps you can send in the prepay payment (by the 13th) also on his behalf or he can just pay at the field. Hope this helps. Migs

A few minor tweaks here and there that we can go over at the field but overall I can see you put a lot of effort into this impression and it looks great, nice job.

Prepay Deadline
Gentlemen, tonight (at 23:59hrs) is the prepay deadline for all those NOT on the replacement game list. Those who are on the list and attending are still required to register (no deadline though). All others who pay at field will be charged $60.00. Registrations are shaping up, but we still need more. Let's get this going. Only 10 days away. Migs

!Achtung
Deutsche Soldaten! [/b] We are less then 1 week away from defense operations in Eindhoven as well as defending the bridges over the Wilhelmina. Weather for Friday and Saturday looks superb. Low 50's and high 30's at night. Perfect conditions for night camping, night fighting and day battles. German HQ will be set up Friday morning and German defenses will be ready for any night time incursions. Should the Allies not show up we shall have a nice fun evening by the fire serenaded by our favorite Lili Marleen with ample German beer. Should the Allies paratroop in the area we shall be ready for them with Flares, searchlights and area bombardments. The mere might of our forces shall keep them at bay. We have been blessed with new supplies of MG42's, panzerfausts, mines and Tiger tanks to help in our defense of the newly acquired Fatherland. All troops are expected to show up Friday evening by 5PM to prepare for the night offensives. We shall have two camps set up, one for period authentic tents in the field and a modern tent in the parking lot for the rest. Looking forward to a great event, come one come all, it is not too late to register for this fabulous experience. One Week Away Here is some particulars for our event next weekend: Gate Combo:7344Event Schedule:Friday: All are welcomed to stop by the field and "dig in" for the event or just help out with field set up and construction. WW2 period campsites will be allowed in the designated AO's. Modern camping will be allowed in the parking lot. Night missions should start around 1700hours. Saturday: Arrivals may start anytime after 0700 hours, but everyone should plan on being at the field no later than 0830 hours. 0830: Registration begins 0930 hours: Safety and Event Rules briefings. You will be briefed on our rules of engagement, what is a hit and how we will use our medic/respawn scenarios for this event. Safety and sportsmanship requirements/expectations. Nothing to complicated, just need everyone on the same page. 0945: Co's briefing 0955: Airborne and German troops briefed by their CO's 1000 : Airborne troops will move out to their DZ's. 1015: German troops move out. 10:30 hours: Game On. The duration of the game will depend on the participants. Should last until at least 1700 or 1800hours. Please read through to get a feel for the theme of our event:
Operation Market The US 101st Airborne Division jumped into Holland in a daylight aerial assault on 17 September 1944, north of Eindhoven. Unlike the other two drops at Arnhem and Nijmegen, where the key bridges to be captured were located within the town’s centre, the bridges assigned to the 101st Airborne at Best and Son were a full 8 miles (13km) north of Eindhoven. The 101st Airborne would secure seven bridges. The first over the Wilhelmina Canal at the town of Son. This was the responsibility of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment (PIR). Two spanning the Dommel River at St. Oedenrude were to be taken by the 502nd PIR supported by a company of the 326th Airborne Engineering Battalion. Finally, four more over the Aa River fell to the 501st PIR near the town of Veghel. After that, Eindhoven was also to be captured by the 506th PIR while the rest of the 101st held open 15 miles (23km) of the road toward Arnhem for the advancing British XXX Corps. By the end of Market Garden, the 101st would refer to this stretch of road as ‘Hell’s Highway’. Securing the Grave and Best bridges and holding Hell’s Highway from repeated German counterattacks ultimately cost the division 2100 casualties over the nine days of Market Garden. This is what our event will be about. German forces will have their HQ (campsite) at the Fire Base and they will also occupy the Main Village (Nijmegen). Their HQ will serve as their fallback point as well as their aide station for “two kill re-spawns.” Their objective is to defend “two bridges” against allied attacks. The bridges will be the located as follows: The small footbridge leading out of the village will be designated as the “Grave Bridge”. The second bridge will be a mock up bridge on the road leading up to GI Base (Eidenhoven). This bridge will be designated the “Bridge at Best”. This will force the Germans to split their forces to repel the Allied invaders. The 101st Airborne and their Allies will be dropped into the field of play in a daytime drop. The drop will be in the woods at a location only the CO’s will know. After the drop, with the help of the Dutch Resistance, paratroopers will go to their rally point and organize their forces. The Germans will then deploy their forces at both bridges and the village. Once the game starts, the Airborne Troops missions will be to attack these two bridge positions, capture and hold them. But more importantly, they must keep the road (Highway69) from between the two bridges and to the town of Nijmegen open. This road is infamously known as “Hell’s Highway”. German forces will do their best to capture Highway 69 and prevent it from being the main artery for the British XXX Corps Armour. Will the 101st be able to hold or will the Germans force the invaders to find a new route into Germany? Only our event will answer this question. Happy Thanksgiving to all and looking forward to seeing everyone next weekend. Migs

How are the attendance numbers looking ? Not bad, but could be better. Allies: 16 w/ 4 more possible Germans: 14 Sides are pretty even, but I have not heard from some of the German Regulars, especially the Museum group. Hope some can make it. Migs
