It pretty much performed like a stock AEG, nothing too special. I'm also not too fond of the AK hopup's slide adjustment. I would rather have a rotary disc but eh, no problem. Overall the B.A.R. is super awesome hahah! I'm planing to put a mosfet in mine so the piston wont stay half cocked because of the lack of semi auto. Plus all the other good reasons to have one I'll also be overhauling the gearbox too, but that will be kinda off in the future. I have a project or two I'm already working on.

Ordered mine on the 6th, it went out on the 14th and received it on the 19th. Not too bad!

So I was able to convert the battery connector to a Deans and swapped the stock motor for a High torque one. Sounds so much better now with less motor whine.

Are you going to a complete overhaul of the internals? I am planning to change all the compression parts and motor when I receive mine.

I received mine in just 5 days and put up a review in that section of the forum.
Can somebody direct me to proof of bakelite handguards in WWII? I can't find any evidence for it but am considering refinishing all the furniture in a sandblasted black since the faux wood is smooth w/ a photo finish.

Well for anyone that hasnt purchased this rifle, it is also being sold in a different store besides airsoft world. If you follow the link that i will provide, it says it can be purchased for only 340 dollars. That being said I have never heard of this store where its being sold for less, but ill let someone try it out first before I get if from them. www.airsoft2day.com/news/1042-vfc-bar-m1918-clone-released.html

What a well done and informative article. I had always been lead to believe that there were a percentage of BARs used in WW2 with the bakelight butt stocks but obviously this article convincingly disputes this. I had never noticed the longer handguard in use during the war but this too is probably wrong as obviously many got into GIs hands without being modifed.
As with all such things, never say never as from my experienc, if an item existed it ended up in combat somewhere. Obviously all wood, would be the norm.

@ heckman, I'd trust the UK site with a good reputation more then the unknown site in Italy. Besides, shipping from there would probably eat all of the money you saved.

Thats what I was thinking too! I have never heard of the other store, and I know airsoft world have a good reputation. How are the magazines, do they feed properly bc I heard the old magazines didnt feed well. What high torque motor did you use?

This is gonna sound really stupid, but I rewatched the epic airsoft HD video of the BAR and he said there were safe, semi, and full auto. Now im guessing that the semi is also full auto also but im not sure, can anyone clarify this for me?

Nope, just: Fast, Awfully fast and Safe. (It doesn't actually change fire rates sadly). Currently what I do to depress the spring after firing is take off the motor and press down the AR latch with a screw driver.
I used my Matrix 3000 motor I had bought for my Garand, but since it was based on a CYMA M14 it required a shorter then standard short motor so it didn't fit.

So I wonder what short type motors will work if its shorter then the normal short type motors?

I was talking about the M14 using a shorter shaft so the standard motor didn't fit. Sorry for the confusion.

I think I found a suitable magazine specimen for converting to a BAR mag: Click to make bigger. SR25 magazine left side, M16 right side. And it's not too expensive either at 15$ being the cheapest one you can find. main issue is that the feed tube looks like won't line up without work.

Be mindfull that even subtle misalignments on magazines create jams and inconsistant feed problems, so unless the fix is quite simple and consistant, the time, energy and frustrations might be more hassle than they worth. Also obviously when you add in the cost of the actual bar magazine housings you're probably above the cost of their extra mags.

Oh yeah I know that. Housings? What I was thinking is I could use the existing mag as it is because it looks to be the same size width wise as bar mag.
Shipping a mag from AirsoftWorld is 25$, so currently one mag(27$) is 52$. So there's some room.

I'm going to take a wild ass guess that the SR25 mag is probably about 1/2 inch shorter (front to back) than the BAR mag, given that the 7.62 Nato cartridge is about 1/2 inch shorter than the .30-06. If you're lucky you might be able to get away with shimming the mag to get everything in the right place. Going to be interesting.

For some reason I had thought this was bigger than the M14's mag, back to square one i guess. But hmm, on the other hand SR25 dose have more of a slant on the bottom. Yet the M14 has the correct amount of groves so nothing it fill in. just found this/

No matter what you do, don't put the carry handle on. It'll scratch the paint, bipod will to, but it's ok.

Ya i was never going to anyways, Ive never been fond of how the BAR looks with the carry handle, Im just gonna run it without the handle and bipod, to me those are just nice extras packaged in
