Uhm....it's a little more involved than that unless you have some mystery process on the ones you did? I noticed on evike they have bith the ECHO 1 BAR and Matrix BAR listed with roughly $100.00 disparity in price for what appear to be exactly the same gun. (385.00 vs $299.00). Does anyone know what differences there are bezudes the trademarks? (OHIO Arms incidently would not be correct for WW2). The wood kits look good at $90.00

Doesn't the Echo1 have a mosfet of some sort? And an extra mag of course. Not sure if the Matrix one comes with those two "additions". I bought the ACM branded one for just under $300 and I love it. I took a long time thinking about how to go about making the hicraps into midcaps (thanks a bunch for the guide with the MAG midcaps, Bat!) and decided to go with using metal cased 20 round M16 mags as they don't require nearly as much work as the all plastic ones. They should arrive any day soon, so I'll post some pics when I'm done with the conversion!

yes, 2nd Bat, it is a bit more complex than that, I should have specified that. There is also a difference in fps between the two (E1 and Matrix), the Matrix shoots at 330, while my friend's Echo 1 was chronoed at 424 fps.

Indeed i drew my adaptations of the high caps to midcaps from the initial work of others. The FPS is a bit confusing as some sources list both as having an FPS of around 330 while both show live chrono results over 400 FPS. My gut instinct is they are fundamentally the same gun but i would love first hand clarity to that effect. Does anyone here have the MATRIX? I know several of us have the ECHO 1

does the MATRIX still have the quick spring change system of the E1?

Yes that appears identical in both. One issue nate had with his at BoB was the metal split right where the front of the receiver group and barrel rendering it inoperable before the first skirmish. This appears to be a weak point and will require some reinforcement. With a bipod and field use it is something to be mindful of. Keep in mind this was an event fought well below freezing which has to be harder on the zync alloy than normal temperatures. His is an ECHO1 as is mine.

This thread seems to be quite old, but I wanted to answer 2nd bat's question on the Matrix Bar. I bought mine in June of 2013. It works like a champ to say the least. I use .25 gram ammo and I'm easily able to get bbs on target at 170 feet. After about 190-200 feet it is really hit or miss. I don't know if this is for all BAR's, but the mags are not very high quality. Some of mine work great, while others don't work anymore. So it is essentially a ECHO-1 BAR but without the dumb white Ohio Ordnance Trades. Hope that answers the question

Indeed that is quite helpful. I too have been pleased with the range and accuracy of my ECHO 1 and redid all my hi cap magazines to mid caps which have continued to function flawlessly. Posts on old threads really don't bother me in the least as the content typically remains relevant to this site and almost always invite updates and additional contributions.
My only frustration with posts to old threads is when the updated poster clearly didn't bother to read the entire thread before posting and either asks a question or makes a statement that was previously covered.

2nd Bat is your Echo1 M1918 still working and is the mosfet still working and is it reliable? What battery type do you use in it? Does it have good trigger response?

I haven't personally used my BAR or played Airsoft in general in over 6 months. At last the gun still works and there is no problem at all with the mosfet or trigger response. I used a 1600mah 9.6 battery in the gun and it worked great. The main problem I had with the gun was the hi-caps are garbage. If you want to play with this gun I would suggest converting them to mid-caps. I hope that helps answer your questions.

Agree on all points. We/ an 8.4 volt battery the gun works okay but much more responsive with a 9.6. I have lent this out at five or six events with no issues. Had to tweak a couple of my modified mid caps. (they needed to be thoroughly secured inside the outer housing as a couple of them slipped down inside and stopped feeding). Easy fix.

I have a Matrix BAR, I had to change out some parts for the improved metal versions. I have not chrono it yet. It does have a mosfet I can use any battery in it. I have noticed with the BAR the magazines don't feed the bb's in that great. Tom has modified a couple of my clips raising the tube with the bb's up slightly to make better contact with the nozzle port on the rifle the bb's feed into and it has been feeding more reliability.
Before I had to buy new gears the rifle lasted for a handful of backyard tests and about an hour battle at an event before it broke. So out of the box unmodified its unreliable. I didn't take the time to test it at the last event, there was only 6 of us so a BAR would have been over kill. I will have to update my thoughts after I get a chance to battle test since the upgrades.
