You're better off using black and white.
Hardly anyone used Sepia by the 40s, it was considered very old fashioned and 19th century. some B&W pics yellow with age but not to that level.
If you want to make pics look old you really have to take them with old film but you can do it digitally its just not as easy as just greyscaling it or putting a sepia photoshop filter on.
If i'm honest at the moment it just looks like a bleached out/desaturated modern pic.

Frankly, it does look like a picture from the 1840s. Use black and white.
