Well It was great, lets talk about it ;D I thought it was fantastic, all the great impressions there, and also everyone was very impressed with the WW2AA, plus we got a few new recruits. I think that the WW2AA was very well represented and felt that we came off very professional, and thus were respected by the other reenactors. TommyGunner P.S Didnt pay full price for anything! ;D

lmao, that was so cool! I got alot of stuff. I traded my t-handeled shovel for a folding shovel, and got alot of other goodies: double buckel boots - $100 Mackinaw Great Coat - $10 Jeep cap - $10 field shirt - $20 Haversack - I think $45 German flash light (w/ battery) - $13 chin straps - $10 2 chicken fingers - $3
It was awesome and it was great seeing everybody again. I can't wait until April, becuase I am all set. The people were so friendly and everybody was giving us discounts. This one lady and a cowboy said I look like Audy Murphy.

Though I loved when I went into the Star bucks, it was like the past meeting the future, all the modern guests were in there and were a little freaked out when I grabbed a Vanilla Frapaccino and sat down in the corner waiting for the rest of the guys... ;D, and I woke up at 8 in the morining, so us SS men need our caffine!!! In general, the public does not react gently to SS runes and sleeve eagles, maybe I'm just a cynical, pessimistic bastard, but doing things like that doesn't do this hobby any good. Use common sense, and good judgment.

Everybody knew what was going on and there were plenty of SS guys there. Just some of the regular guests were somewhat confused when they walked into the ballroom and saw some Indians with their faces painted with warpaint swinging tomahawks around and some SS guys eating with some Americans. I was kidna confused about the guys that were in like robin hood costumes. I liked the Pirates though!

I used my judgement to the best of my abilities and people there want to see the SS up close and I feel its my duty to educate the public. I dont set a bad example for the WW2AA because I decided to grab a coffee, Im sorry that you feel that way and in no way do I feel that you are cynical, pessimistic bastard (maybe a bit confused ). (BTW) the elevators were right at the entrance of the lobby, so there were SS reenactors coming from there rooms grabbin coffee, the people were just suprised to see a german sitting down the with a Latte and not a Beer. Id like to stop the bickering,I was just telling a funny little story... Schutze

lol azeeze, yeah, it was probably the only T-handeled shovel in that pile of old folding shovels. It is a good shovel, but too paratrooper for me. I bought it off of IMA. regarding the SS, I think the ones giving the MG42 demonstration were SS and wearing full blown SS insignia. I don't think people were offended, I mean, what could people expect from a reenacting convention? You should have seen all of the SS insignia's for sale in glass cases. There were HJ knives for $18, all the wristbands, I don't think it was really a big issue. But I can see how some people coming down for a coffee could get a little confused at a SS trooepr standing in line waiting for a coffee. But then again, an Indian with warpaint throwing around his tomahawk could initmidate some people, too. It would make me get out of the line and let ihm go before me .

Wow, what a great event! It was really awsome to see all you guys there. I will have to see if I can get a few of the pictures Blake took. It is great that they will be holding the event twice a year now (too bad it's on the east coast). The automatic weapons presentation really made the entire thing tons of fun. Plus I got a great deal on the two Kar98 bayonets (60 bucks)! My only regret was not having come in uniform. I'll be sure to next time.

DOn't look at it as being screwed. Look at it as learning a lesson. So he made $5.00 extra on you...you saved a lot by not having to pay shipping costs for everything you bought. ;D

Cap.Zaks right even though I didnt see anything there cheaper than what it sells for on the net, you didnt have to pay shipping for it, that means you probably saved bundle just on that, if thats not a deal than I dont know what is.
Also when you go to these types of events never be afraid to offer a price below what there asking for, 90% of the time the vendors will mark items up 100% to 200% from what they paid for them and they will be more than happy to sell it to you at some kind of a discount. An example being the 5cell I bought, the guy wanted $40 for it so I offered him $20 (the price he paid for it) so he made an offer back for $25 and I took it (saved $15 just by asking) Another trick is to buy things at the end of an event, I guarentee you they want to get rid of as much as possible becuase thats less they have to drag home, thats when you can really get the deals. Also if you do ask for a discount and they turn you down do not be afriad to go back at the end of the event and ask them if they would like to reconsider, most of the time they fold.
At the event I got by haggling an enourmaous discount on all the items I bought. At full price I would have paid about $135 for everything but I got it all for about $70
Leggins-$30 Paid $10
5cell Thompson pouch-$40 Paid $25
Early USMC First Aid pouch-$15 Paid-$10
2 Musset bag straps-$20 Paid $10
WW2 Smoke Grenade-$20 paid $10
M1 Garand strap-$10 Paid $5
Just a few haggling tricks that work on almost all vendors (except Cap.Zak I couldnt see him being fooled by anyone this way)

Seeing as I watched TommyGunner work his magic, I feel I can speak on the subject. It was astounding. Really, he just said something like "You'd be helping a poor marine out" and BOOM, price drop of 50%. I would say something like "Well....I'd really appreciate it if you wouldnt charge me any money" and I'd get a "BOOM!" roars of laughter......except for Old Paratrooper, I DEFINITLY reccomend him....Great guy, traded me a new cartidge belot when mine broke.... really, super guy....

Really Old Paratrooper is a great guy, hes the one I got most of the deals off of, he has a large selection of items, You could build an entire impression on what he has for sale. And his prices were already very cheap.
I would recomend him if your low on cash and need something.
