A few years back I attempted to start a USMC unit in my area only to get a handful of people interested. I started a forum for the unit and blah blah blah. Well after a period of a year and a half of my own inactivity within the realm of WWII airsoft I have decided to get back into it. I've been visiting this forum on a semi frequent basis lately and came across the link to my forum through the signature on my profile. Well, I have made some changes to the forum and my goal now is to have a dedicated WWII USMC airsoft forum. Not to take away or compete with this forum, as I believe this is a fantastic forum, but to let the USMC reenactors have a place of their own. Currently, the forum is named 1st Marine Division Airsoft, but I may change the name in the future to a more broad term. Feel free to join up here: 1stmardivairsoft.proboards.com

We probably should create a separate section specifically devoted to the USMC. I would love to see more events with a focus on close combat in the Pacific. In many ways the fighting in the Pacific lends itself to the characteristics of airsoft better than western Europe, the eastern front or the Mediterranean theater. In the Pacific, combat was often at very abbreviated range, frequently involved smaller unit engagements, patrolling and was often fought to the death with few surrenders.
Good luck with it.

That's not a bad idea. I too wish there were more Pacific themed games, but there seems to a lack of interest in that theatre in general. Granted it's hard finding an area that resembles the tropics here in the US, and I haven't seen a Japanese impression let alone unit to play against.

Unfortunately, reenactment is, for lack of a better term, "plagued" with those who just want ETO, both Western and Eastern fronts. North Africa and Pacific, and even Italy, gets swept under the rug.
Reenactors in SoCal rather bear the heat of wools and do ETO events over North Africa and Italian events! And being down there for 5 years, I can tell you, that SoCal and the weather (lack of is you ask me) is insanely more passable as North Africa and Southern Italy. Hell, its a freaking desert, and you will see guys wearing wools!
I'm all with you, though, being a Marine myself, I'd like to see more PTO events. Hopefully when more airsoft manufacturers get on this WWII idea, we can start seeing skirmishable Japanese weapons.

My NVA costumes with very little tweaking could stand in for passable IJN uniforms. Caps and leg wraps would go a long ways. The real issue right now is an affordable, skirmishable selection of IJN weapons.

And same to 2nd Bat, don't think I've ever thanked you over the years of being on this forum. I've got a friend who attends some of the bigger airsoft events around the area, I'm in northern Indiana, and he's invited me to tag along for a couple but it never worked out, I may just try to make one or two this year and spark some interest..
