Here's an article on a battle on the morning of D-Day involving elements of the 82d and 101st Airborne that would make a pretty good scenario. The number of troops involved was relatively small, composed primarily of 82d Airborne, but with some stray 101st gathered up for reinforcement. There were also glider troops. The objective was simple, gain control of a crossing of a river and hold it until troops came up from the beach. La Fiere is a cluster of buildings just west of the much better known fight at St. Mere-Eglise. warfarehistorynetwork.com/daily/wwii/airborne-at-la-fiere-slugfest-in-normandy/

Excellent backdrop for an airsoft event. 101st, 82nd, Glider troops and potentially reg Infantry from the 4th and or 30th ID. German troops could be Used or Fallsimjagers without too much of a stretch. Lots of back and forth.
For the 60th Anniversary of D_Day I jumped outside Carentan and was supposed to jump later at LaFiere (the group had six jumps scheduled that day). I had landed hard in the second jump and broke a molar so skipped the LaFiere jump watching it from the ground. Lucky thing as my stick from a C47 (only times I ever jumped from one) was misdropped and landed badly in a parking lot. Many many broken bones and damage to cars. The town mayor was wonderful and paid all property damages. CNN covered the mishap my wife (back home) was not amused.
I wore dog tags from both my late mother and father who were both WW2 veterans. A very cool event. I have period tactical maps of the entire area.
