Apparently "soon" has a different meaning in Japanese and Chinese. Still, it's promising.

For what it’s worth, that original tweet from the Japanese airsoft shop (UFC, the top half of the image) claims they have started taking preorders for it. I would imagine that means they have at least a prototype finished?
EDIT: Looking at the original tweet, the information listed is about a new version of S&T Kar98 which apparently shares magazines with their 1903. It’s set to release in May and might be Japan-exclusive, I can’t tell.
Here’s the tweet for those of you who can read Japanese:

An SMLE would be a sweet new edition to the S&T arsenal and shows that S & T is delivering on their promise to support WW2 airsoft. If it performs as well as their AEG Garand and their M1903 and Kar 98 they'll have my business. I love all of my S & T rifles. The SMLE is iconic and covers so many theaters and so many time frames. They are still being faced in Afganistan.

The Australians produced the No. 1 Mk III at their Lithgow factory past the end of WWII. They were still using them in Korea and never switched to the No. 4 Enfield. India was producing them at the Ishapore Rifle Factory until some time in the 1960's. It's not the most advanced bolt action design, but it works.

Of all the WW2 boot actions the Enfield is my favorite. The action is silky smooth and in my opinion the most ergonomic. The 10 round capacity was a huge advantage over the usual 5 although I would have preferred that the box magazine was designed to be used as such instead of stripper clips.
It's accuracy, reliability and stopping power was and is still quite remarkable and I have always loved the iconic looks. I will buy one of these when it comes out.

Awesome news and a great update. I will definitely want one for my WW2 arsenal. I suspect Mid summer before we see them hitting the ground.

Looks awesome. I will buy it if it's priced and preforms like my S&T 1903 and Kar98.

Just seen these released in the UK..... at £454 each (equivalent to about $590). Silly money when compared to the price of the K98.

Yes that's a bit odd when compared to their M1903 and Kar98 which are quite a bit less expensive but well done and very skirmishable. I spent a good part of Easter Sunday plinking with my 1903. I forgot how awkward reloading clips was. Initially I couldn't remember where I put my two spare magazines for it. They are thin strips that slide in horizontally in through a trap door on the bottom of the M1903 stock. I then remembered that I had slightly enlargened the hollow in the butt stock that normally would hold cleaning tools and had them both in there wrapped in a cleaning rag. Glad I remebered! My M1903 was $244.00 plus shipping as a pre-order. A bargain today. It doesnt shoot quite as well as the KAR98 released a few years later and reloading magazinesin the KAR 98 is much easier. I modified an actual stock to fit it. (Donated from Volks). Its my favorite bolt action (by far)
