Another of Mark Felton's great videos. This is an aspect of the Battle of Bastogne that seems to have been generally overlooked. I know I've never heard much mention of supplies being sent into Bastogne by air, but there actually was a major effort to parachute in supplies, and then bring them in by glider. Quite a story. www.youtube.com/watch?v=2wzksVIIhXM

In famous pictures of 101st airborne troops preparing for X-Ray there are a number of troopers in war paint with the suggestion that this was commonplace. It wasn't. The pictures are actually a single group of pathfinders nicknamed the filthy 13. Their exploits throughout the war have become legendary. They were the unit dropped initially at Bastogne to set up and help coordinate the resupply airdrop.
