Well, I used to be a Partisan 'Blank" re-enactor, and loved it. If any of you are short on cash, hate what your wearing, or just bored, go for a partisan look. I'll tell you why it is great.
There is no real conformity when being a Partisan, though most times, you wouldn't find a Slovak Partisan wearing a French uniform. So, you section it off into groups.
1. Western: French, Danish, Belgian, et cetera. 2. Mediterranean: Italy, Greece, Yugoslavia, Albania. 3. Eastern: Polish, Soviet, Czecho-Slovak, some Nordic.
It will be hard to find some gear, though most of it can be found for very cheap, especially if you are looking for a Soviet partisan impression. This provides flexibility, and finding equipment is easy. Here's what you'll rpobably need.
-German or corresponding area weapon. -Jackboots, shortboots, or old civilian shoes (Leather!). -Articles of a uniform (Modified German or WWI Austro-Hungarian works). -Bedroll. You never knew where you were goin to sleep next, and a great way to store things. -Belt and ammunition pouches. Mix, match, be creative and historically accurate! -Canteen and other gear. Use anything, but once again, it is doubtful that you will be able to have everything.
Not many partisan units were consistent with what they wore, so if you have a unit, none of you should look too similar. The bare minimum should be either a uniform shirt or trousers, jack boots or civilian shoes, and a rifle. Often times, partisans were just civilians with hunting rifles.
Just don't FARB is up and wear some modern stuff. We'll tell the difference, and believe me on that. I should have some pictures soon.

what about a french resistance impression with plain civilian clothes and a .45 with either a captured kar98 or a mp40? does that seem like a good partisan outfit and would i be able to play in yellow games with this and just pretend to be fighting along with paratroopers on D-day

...I wanna be a greek partisan so bad, I could easily get my stuff from my church (clothing) use german bandoliers and a k98 or even a thompson as they got those off of dead british/new zealanders. Would I be allowed to fight like that?

not really, the greeks where allied, and they kicked the italian's ass's when they invaded (drat!) so they didnt really have allied partisans, you could play as a greek soldier though, and play as the allies.

What? O yeah, I know, but after greece got their own butt kicked by germany the citizens started fighting back. www.crete1941.comthats an example of the partisans on crete. They had 2 groups of allied partisans (democratic and communist) and one group fighting for the nazis. I want to be a greek soldier, but all the uniforms and stuff costs a lot! Actually, you like italy right? Where do you get your stuff? (greeces uniform was half italian.)

Italian uniforms is just as expensive. Some tunics alone go for 350 dollars, so I wouldnt advise it. But if you're lucky you could get somthing cheap off ebay. I switched to American, becuase Italian gear is just way too expensive for me. I need a job first...

I switched to fallschirmjager for the exact same reason- $. The fallschirmjager fought the crete guys and I honor our enemies, after all both sides got slaughtered on crete. Do you know any places that sell italian uniforms? Just curious for when I decide to do a greek impression.

yeah I know of a few, This guy has come very highly reccomended to me, Italian reenactors say he has extremely fast shipping (30 days) but coming from Italy, thats very fast. However his items are a bit pricy. www.militariacollection.com This guy's name is Iacopo, he has reasonable prices, considering you will not find his items anywhere else, literally: www.wwii-militaria.com/site/cgi-bin/shop.cgiThis company supplies mostly american/ british items, but they came across a few Italian items and made some reproductions. If you're looking into Folgore (Italian paratroopers) talk to this guy, he's got a good deal on a rare jump smock. (Italian, not greek) www.pegasusmilitaria.com/index.html One thing I would like to mention is to STAY AWAY from the Italian front group, the website is www.italianfront.com . DO NOT BUY FROM HIM, he has scammed so many people, and this an exact quote of a freind of mine who once bought from him:

Gah, all of you must remember that most partisans were civilians, and rarely had a uniform other than possibly a hat or jacket. Improbtu is the way to go with these kinds of guys. Self made ammunition bandoleers and fabricated stuff, though in a 40's sense.

Any advice for a few folks doin' a Polish ex-soldiers? I've got a couple buddies who are researching the part right now. One of them had a LONG list of relatives which fought the Germans, including a highly famed polish partisan who died fighting the Germans. I am sure he would be greatful for anything you can offer in the way of advice.

Jackandbox: very true, I can't tell you from personal experience, however, there is a very respected critic forums of people who have experienced a bad side of IFG, I will tell you the link at a later time, I have a brief time to post this. There is a mix of good and bad from that company, and there are cases where people did not recieve their items, whether you want to believe it or not. I say order at your own risk. You may recieve the items, you may not. Not everybody was as lucky as you.
Believe me when I say, I'm not trying to start an argument over this, it is neither the place, or the correct mannor to take about this, I am trying to explain to silencer my own opinions on the matter, to help him make the right decision. I am sorry if I seemed alittle strong about the IFG, I just have great respect for Jeff, and no he does not go around forums like a crazed women lol. If you reread what I said, I said these sites have been reccomended to me and freinds of mine had bought from them, so yes I did copy and paste which I clearly stated. I never said I found them on my own, or I know these sources from experience, I only said these guys came reccomended to me. I'm not trying to impress anyone, Silencer asked me for vendors, and that's what I gave him.
I am happy for you that you recieved your items from IFG, but I do not reccomend it. I respect your say on it, and you should respect mine. So, before jumping on my back for giving my 2 cents on the IFG, please provide a courtious, helpful response instead of attacking another member.
Thank you

To Rainier: armiam.comEverything the Polish re-enactor shall need. Luckily for reenacting the Polish, most used German weapons or Polish-manufactured Mausers, though some were outfitted with british units.
