Well...... First you can't go wrong with the Maruzen P38, it's an excellent and underrated sidearm. Personally I'd hold out for the Tanaka Luger when they produce some more, which should be sometime in the spring. But the P38 is an excellent choice. I am impressed with the HFC M712 Broomhandle Mauser, but a word of caution- that bitc* is H-E-A-V-Y (Almost 3 lbs!) so bear that in mind as you consider what you are going to lug into the field. The 1911 is a very nice weapon, your right that it's a bit more correct for Allied troops, however there was a very similar pistol actually used by the Wehrmacht called the 'Radom'- Radom description at WikipediaIt was a Polish design based on the Colt .45, so I suppose you could stretch the issue a bit and use a 1911 as an ersatz Radom. I am planning on picking up one of the *new* WA SCW V3 "Magnatech" 1911 Military's that are just out at the end of this week, they are going for a little over $100 so I will post a review as soon as I get it in my hands! So far, the pictures I have seen look like they are scrimping a bit on the overall ABS quaility to bring the price down to the $100 dollar level- I am interested to see if the metal slide I have will work, because if I can 'upgared' it with metal parts and still get the new SCWv3 blowback system, then it may be a great way to get into a WA pistol cheap! -G

Man I am stumped. I really want a blowback gun but I really like the c96. So Which one in the overall is better *excluding the weight.

well, now that you 'narrowed' the field to just the P38 vs the HFC M712* Broomhandle Mauser,
I'd say get the HFC Mauser because you get more 'bang' for your buck. Full metal goodness, and 400+ fps out-of-the-box if you use GreenGas or propane.
* The HFC pistol is a replica of the Mauser M712 "Schnelfeuer" which allowed single or full-auto shooting, the C96 did not.

Right-o I will do that. I found a real good deal over at redwolf. An extra mag, a pistol case, 4000 bbs and the gun all for 90 bucks! Its a godsend since I am literally broke and need a new gun. I am buying that this week before I miss out.
BTW what would be shipping costs for that gun from redwolf?

I would say that the Mauser (Pistol) is an intermediate step between the rifle and a more 'standard' pistol because of the long barrel- As well with GreenGas, that baby spits out projectiles in the 400FPS range, so all you are really losing is a few inches of barrel length that you would get with the Mauser (Rifle) The Repro stocks for the m712 are available, although not inexpensive, but I think I am going to get one to proivide a more stable platform for using the weapon, and ....well yes, for the cool factor ;D uniquecanes.com/new/item_german_stock.htmlI think for the money, the HFC is a good beginning for mauser98k to be able to get out on the field and probably be reasonably competitive from the start. -G

I would not recommend to get the mauser pistol. They saw very little field use during WW2.

I dont care if it was rare on the field, I can be a "rare" soldier.

Yes, just like everyone else Its just a question of how far you are willing to go, and how nice your impressions is going to be.

I honestly am not likely to participate in a skirmish for a long time. I am getting suited up right now to do small ones with friends and make movies with my friends. I am not willing to get a nice impression at least till im 15 because theres no use in getting a great outfit and then all of a sudden grow and lose all that cash. I am just trying to focus on school now and keep my grades up to get into high school.

I have the HRC Mauser, great heft to it, wow, really gets them out there as well, I have yet to chronograph this gun, will set up and test the Tanaka 4" Luger and Maruzen P38 (when it gets here). I would say easy 375 fps out of the box with Green 22. Very solid pistol and all metal. A bit to hump about in the shooting woods at 3 lbs, but can't go wrong for $100.00 on this one.
