Is that the UTG configuration of the AGM M-14? It must be. Did you actually chrono it or are you estimating as I chrono'd my AGMs and most all were just shy of 330 with .20 grams. A good 35FPS harder then a Marui. The two that fell short required work to the nozzle and they were right back up there.

A friend is interested in purchasing a Chinese clone of an M14 since he already has a CA SLR-105 Steel Version and can't afford a new high quality AEG any time soon. What is the difference between the AGM and the UTG version? And what mags are compatible with each gun?

It's actually Dan ny you miscreant I answer to either guys. The Chrono report comes from the sellers website. His chrono sometimes is 20-35fps lower than other chronos I shoot across. Don't know why don't want to argue with him about it. That is what he stated it shot on the website. I think it might shoot close to what your saying John. These were not cross wired the way the AGM's seem to be. (t) SD is an American importer...I believe they are the American distributer for CA but I could be mistaken about that. I could have purchased the AGM's from him but these seemed the better deal to me as the AGM's came with 1 hicap and he said they seemed crosswired. I believe they all take TM mags. TSD, AGM, TM all the same mags. UTG? I cannot say for sure.

The UTG from airsoftGi is the same gun as the Double Eagle with again somewhat different packaging. If you're into Hi caps, the airsoftgi and TSD packaging are the way to go. All accept Marui compatible magazines also I've noted that the DE (and hence UTG and TSD) variants need a little work (filing or just repeated use) to fit easily in and out. They also accept the Deepfire low caps and mid cap magazines. I have six more DE M-14s due in this Weds. so I'll be curious to see if they are cross wired. I don't expect they will be. The last two shipments were great right out of the box.

In my opinion having owned literally all of them I would rank the M14 clones in the following order:
Tokyo Marui remains the best quality but with the price point and out of the box FPS is not the best value. The G&G and CA M14s are excellent but again at their price points are more expensive than they are worth and the non compatible magazines are problematic (especially if you are considering a conversion to a Garand) The CYMA in my opinion is the best value. The AGM is next in quality with the Kart, DE, UTG and TSDs all reasonably comparable. None of them are bad and all for the price represent good value for the dollar. The AGMs have eliminated the cross wire challenges they initially all had. The TSD, UTG and DE have experienced challenges with the trigger holding up over sustained semi auto fire. This has thus far not been a problem with Marui, CYMA or AGM.
The CYMA is significantly better than the others due to its full compatibility with Marui components and it's high quality and tightbore barrel. For a conversion project I continue to recommend the CYMA first and the AGM as a second choice.
