I recently aquired a M1919A6 (browning .30cal) from John (2nd bat) in trade (Thanks John). It will be my next Airsoft custom project and I am currently gathering parts. I have a question that hopefully someone here who is more familiar with this weapon can answer. Sportmans guide has an ammo can that fits directly on the side of a M1919, www.sportsmansguide.com/cb/cb.asp?a=240056This would be easier to deal with as an airsoft gun than the ammo can with a belt of bullets hanging between the can and the gun but are they correct for WWII? after doing gi for 4+ mouths i would say they would be used if the 30cal is mounted a like a jeep or some thing. Alan

I've seen pictures of mounts on tripods that incorporated the ammo can but not affixed for use with the bipod to my knowledge.

unfortunatly, its supposed to be belt to box, (or just free hanging belt) It was where i got stalled doing mine.
What I found is the marui highcap had trouble propeling the bbs up the foot and a half of spring tubing.
Those airsoft elite mags have more powerful springs, you might want to try those. -Gordak

I would think an electric box mag as produced for the Star M249 would be the way to go. They have promoted as "Coming" an optional 100 round electric box mag that would probably fit in a 30 Cal ammo can. Certainly the guts of a box mag would fit just fine. I'm looking for any photrgraphic support of an attached mag on a tripod other then Jeep or vehicle mounted. I've seen them before its an attached cage sort of thing the box sat in.

this is what you are talking about.... Bracket,Ammo Can,M1919A4 and yes, this was used primarily with a tripod or vehicle mount, not on the A6 version.you could try it ,since the bracket just clamps onto the barrel just ahead of the reciever and rests against the side of it.they run about $200 to $399.

Thanks for all the input. I agree with Gordak that feeding BB's through a 12" plus tube that flexes as the gun moves will not work reliably enough. and I also agree that the ammo can that mounts to the side is not the norm. After looking at hundreds of M1919 pictures I did not see any with that ammo can. I may try and just have the ammo go directly into the reciever.
Savoy6: which type of ammo can does that bracket fit? Is that a display (non-firing) gun or semi-auto? Looks great! Thanks for the pic.

I have two original WW manuals for the 30 Cal that I picked up at the militaria show. One is the normal field manual and the other is a Technical Support manual (Armorers version) Both have excellent graphics and photographs that can be used in your fabrication including precise measurments on the right side plate. I'll get them to you to use as a reference.
