Alright now that I have gotten a bit of money back into my possesion that I can use for airsoft stuff I need to start looking for Springfield Stocks.
I recently purchased a used TM made VSR-10 that I want to turn into a Springfield, to go with my other Springfield.
I however want to find cheap stocks and am not below purchaing a beater stock to fix up, I know they exist but I have been unable to find a place where I can purchase one of these used so called beater stocks.
I knwo I can find decent stocks for only $150 but I want to keep the project under the $150 mark as I still need to buy all the other parts required to build a Springifled (which I have found for very cheap) The stock is the only hurdle left for me to get over.
So does anyone know wher I can find these so called beater stocks?

I found it fantastic extreamly affordable prices for an entire wood hardware set for a Springfield check this out! www.boydsgunstocks.com/BrowseEbus/Militaryspringfield.aspIm gonna order two full sets of the $30 ones (or 1 $100 pistol grip type set) Infact this place has full wood hardware sets for everything from the Springifeld, to the Carbine, to the Garand, to the Leenfield, everything and they are supercheap too, look out bolt action conversions I plan of making me an Enfield also. I won't swear to this but my understanding of those prices is the handguard is 30.00 the rest of the stock is 99.00

Hmm sounds logical, I will be calling them today to ask about that, but still even at $100 thats still fairly cheap and there not originals so we wont destroy an original by making an airsoft gun out of it.

Is it possible that you could make your own Garand? cause that would be really cool !!

If this is the place that I think it is I would advise reading the specifics carefully. I Think you will get good stocks but will pay a good price. I looked into sockmakers when I thought there might be some interest in duplicating the work I'm doing (very slowly) on a Springfield and if these are the guys I was looking at you need to pay attention, the devil is in the details.

If it looks too good to be true it generally is. Let us know what you find out. My guess is All American Dan is right and the 30.oo is for the upper handguard which isn't really such a great deal. The main stocks at $100.00 is about what you see at gun shows and the hardware will kill you.

As far as I know Sarco (www.sarcoinc.com) seems to have the most reasonable prices and variety of Springfield stocks. 2nd Bat has got it right, anything associated with Springfields is priced in the silly range.

I went to the local gunshow today. Nothin there in the way of Springfield parts I needed but I did buy a full Kar 98 stock with all the hardware I need so I guess I'll be doing a VSR based Kraut rifle. Such a bargain compared to the Springfield bits. I'll need a Kar 98 sling (IMS probably)

It was in Monroe today. They alternate. The Monroe one is smaller but also way less crowded. PM me if you have more questions about it.

Hey, was looking on www.ODCMP.com and i saw that they sell springfields (demilled) for 100$, the only problem is that you have to be qualified for CMP to get it. You do this by becoming a member to a gun club or a range then competing in a CMP target shoot. You card from the shoot (says that you participated) is good for like 5 yrs, and then you can order Weapons for the low price CMP sells them. -Cary

That's a wonderful program that is somewhat less productive then it once was. The rifles you get can range from wonderful to pretty crappy but the price is right either way.

ya most deffinatly, and you cant go wrong 120 buck ( shipping included) and you get the entire stock set and all the metal. Just its de-milled. But you dont need parrts in firing condition to make this. -Cary

I guess we're talking about a different program. If I can get demilled complete Springfields from CMP for $120.00 that would be awesome. I smell a rat here somewhere however.

Ah, just as I suspected. So does their stocks come with the steel stuff, or should we just order from CMP?

CMP obviously! Although let me know how that goes as I have my suspicions there are some inherent challenges there as well. Things that look like great solutions seldom are. Order from them and let us know how it went.

Like i said, you go to look into cmp a little. You need to be in a shoot so you can get a card to buy for their prices, you also then would need to be a member of a gun club, i suggest M1 garand collectors society. They have all their requirements on their website. Its not a bad thing to get a card though from them. Odcmp.com is their website. -Cary

Im just gonna shell out the $130 bucks and get myself a stock and upper handguard, also I know where I can get a complete bolt assembly for $40 (Im gonna see if its possible to attach the the parts from the Bolt handle back to the airsoft bolt) Then Ill scrounge around for a few months for rest of the parts I need. Its not a project I need to finish now as I have a great springfield to use already.
