I was reading reviews of "Godfather the game" (also looks good) when I saw an advertisement for this game. It looks pretty good, although I'm not sure if it has first person 'In cockpit' view. From the screenshots it looks mroe like a "Secret Weapons over Normandy" game with 3rd person view. There are many battles included in this game, and it looks very promising. The environment models look absolutely amazing. here is an overveiw on gamespot: www.gamespot.com/pc/sim/worldwariisquadron/index.html

I bought this for PC. So far there is no in cockpit view, It is very much like Secret weapons over Normandy, Not terrible, but not very good. IL2 FB/pacific fighters is still the best flight sim IMO. If you're not into the technical aspects of flying then Blazing Angels might apeal to you.

I believe that in cockpit shot is a pre-release rendering. I'm pretty far into it and so far there has been no option for a in cockpit perspective. Only chase view and padlock view.

ah, thanks for clarification. they should have left cockpit view in the game, would have made it alot better, in my opinion.
I thought it was out for regular xbox, so says gamespot.

Secret Weapons Over Normandy (SWON) is the cheap @$$ offspring of the best wwii flight simulator of all time Secret Weapons Of The Luftwaffe (SWOTL) This game was so old it came on 6 floppy disks, and for no apparent reason, they were already afraid of pirating so the game came with this pinwheel and to get into the game each time it gave you a plane silhouette and a piece of noseart. You line up the two on you wheel and you would have the woman's name to type in. The game is so old my computer has to have a special program just to run it but it's so ridiculously fun.
SWOTL YAY look it up, you can download it and the little converter program for free it's so old.

I have about 10,000 hours in SWOTL, I think it's uber-dynamic gameplay still hasnt been beat It's also where the name Gordak came from, So many of my pilots were killed in combat, that I ran out of German names, I started making up really strange names, and Gordak survived with like 795 kills. -Gordak

SWOTL was one of my old favorites on my Amiga computer, as well as Their finest hour. Both great games. Madox games has a new Battle of Britian flight sim due out this fall. First in a series called "Storms of War"I can't wait.

You should seriously try Target Tobruk, I have yet to play a more realistic WW2 flight sim. In my opinion, it is better than Aces high, Il2, warbirds, Air warriors, WW2OL (airplane role) all combined! at least give it a try, you will not be disappointed.

I did try it and to be honest I wasn't too impressed. It had some good points but things like the engine sound realy put me off, When you move the throttle the engine sound doesn't change pitch it just gets louder or quieter, Maybe I didn't give it a fare chance, but after half an hour I'd had enough. IL2 is still my favourite.

Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator was pretty impressive but the pacific sequel had obvious signs of shotty workmanship. I've never seen the 3rd one but it has both campaigns I believe so that's on my list to hit up when I recover from my addiction to Airsoft.
