The movie Wheels Of Terror (aka Misfit Brigade) follows a group of German criminals who are given their freedom in exchange for climbing into a tank and driving straight into the most dangerous combat that WW2 had to offer. These guys are the dregs of Hitler's Army and they all have an attitude problem as well as a general lack of respect for the military. The film is American made, so the actors do not even attempt to sound German. This didn't bother me as I found the movie to be very funny overall. Since it wasn't a serious look at WW2, I can forgive the actors and storyline a bit. It does however offer a very rare look at life inside a tank. A battle in the first part of the film shows us the chaos that takes place inside these iron giants. The downside is that the Soviet tanks looked like T-34's, but the German tanks were a mystery to me (not Panther, Tiger or King Tigers). I assume they were post war tanks. Also, after a fierce battle against some Soviet tanks, the Panzers are left without a tank early in the film and pretty much never get back in one....Lame. The language is harsh and so is the humor in this film. It earns the R rating with pride. I liked this movie a lot more than I thought I would. It's fun, it's got some great action sequences and humor and it deals with something very few movies do...Panzers. In one scene, the reject Panzer crew is ordered to bury some fallen SS soldiers in a bombed-out village. They are extremely lazy and don't like the SS or Hitler, so they just drive the tank over the bodies until the rubble covers them. They also visit a whore house, blow up a train and pull off a major attack on a Russian outpost. Uniforms are all correct as are the weapons. Overall, the movie is fun and it made me want to put together a 27th Panzer Regiment outfit ASAP.
