ok i've been a part of this forum for a while....haven't posted in a long time but anyway if the mod sees fit then this post can be deleted, cause its on the lines of blank reenactment instead of airsoft
ok i've been trying to find a WWII airsoft group or start one for that matter, but its been to no avail, but i found a blank firing group that looks very good 326th engineers of the 101st, one of my friends is part of it. and he really wants me to join, but i haven't bought all of my equipment because i didn't want to buy it when i had no group, and now that i'm joing one i have to get a few things squared away, then on with the buying!
but the problem i'm facing is what is a good online retailer that sells blank firing guns? i found modelguns.co.uk but is that reenacting type of guns? and what are the best prices for them? i'm looking for either a garand or a thompson. thanks for all the help that is provided

try posting this on the ww2 reenactors forum you will get better results.
to answer your question: in my opinion caps guns are a huge waste of money. get the real deal. The CMP offers m1 garands for cheap. i got one for 400 bucks. They are as cheap as the cap guns and much More reliable. The Cmp guns can be used for blanks and live ammo as well.

Hello, I am also a reenactor using blanks. Apart from side arms, the weapons used in reenacting are real weapons with blank adaptors on them. As far as the BATF is concerned...any "blank only" rifle or smg is a real firearm unless it is one of the following.... -There are side arms made by "Kimar" and "Bruni" (www.bayonetinc.com sells them for example). These are not considered real firearms because they are made of pot metal, vent through the top of the slide, and there is no real pistol that shoots the 8mm cartridge that is uses). -The only legal full auto blank guns are at www.ssroom.com . He only has the PPSH41 released and is working on other ones. They are expensive...but no where near the amount you'd pay for a real class III item. These are legal because the dimensions are different from the real thing...the rounds are 9.3 mm which does not exist as a real bullet, and the blanks are fed backwards...yes, the firing pin comes from the side of the barrel. Other than those all of the weapons used in reenacting are real firearms with blanks in them. The guns at www.modelguns.co.uk are PFC cap guns. You load caps into very expensive reuasable brass cartridges (not good for reenacting...you're have to pic up all your brass). The action moving back and forth is usually loader than the caps themselves. Many dealers try to call them blank firing guns as a marketing scheme. The guns usually don't fire correctly out of the box (only one that did for me was an MGC Thompson) and require knowledge and time to make them function. This is only if you're in the US....I know the UK guys convert MGC MP40s and what not to fire blanks. If you need any more info or have more questions let me know. Cheers Thomas

thanks guys you've been a big help, i'm going to go with a garand from CMP, unless the guy at SSroom finishes an M1A1 and its a good price, actually i'm going to contact him about it, after i find out how much it costs i'll make my decision, but the garand looks good

Sometimes you just have to wait until your thread gets entirely buried off the first page and then post it again. Sometimes it will just get run over by other threads and people don't catch it. so if it gets ignored it's nothing personal there are just a lot of posts. So keep reminding people you're there and you'll get a response.

The WW2 reenacting forum...although useful does have some idiots on it. Boogiewoogie is a control freak who needs to calm down. Those guys can't take a joke either. I'm only talking about 2 or 3 of the head guys....the rest are pretty good guys. This forum is a million times better and friendlier. Cheers Thomas

gunslinger, The best thing to do would be to join the unit that you're talking about. They can help you with what you should buy, and where's the best place to get it. No point in buying gear now that you'll find out after you join that you can't use. You don't even have to have gear or weapons to start attending events. Most units have loner gear and rifles that they'll let the new guys use before they get all their stuff together. As for your weapon, in all likliness you'll be joining the unit as a private which means you won't be carrying a thompson. Go with the CMP M1, that's the best way to go. Have Fun and Good Luck!

the problem with loaner gear is that its a pretty small group and they don't have much to loan, and i don't want to go and get involved in the group quite yet, it'll be a while before i join, i have to get some new equipment for my band, then i'll be joining
