Hi! I was wondering to build a Hi cap drum magazine for my future MP40 (yes I know that there weren't drums for Mp40... but airsoft is a game!) So i don't want to ruin the original mag (exposition over the fireplace during week )and I decided to build one using welded sheet metal, but I cannot wait to receive mine, so can you be so kindly to give me the dimension of a magazine?? Thanks a lot!! Bye bye! Marco ;D ;D ;D

That would be "enabling" of you doing something horrific to an MP40 I can't do that sorry...An MP40 with a drum mag is wrong...are you going to add a silencer, RIS system, tac light, laser, and a can opener to it aswell?

and a can opener to it aswell? Because then it would be a Galil! ;D For those of you who don't know the legend of the Galil bottle opener.. "and even the unusual feature of an integrated bottle-opener to avoid damage to the rifle magazines through a previously common misuse of weapons to open beverage bottles by using the magazine orifice to twist the caps off." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GalilOh anyway, back on topic. A drum mag in an MP40 would be an abomination, just buy tons of mags....they're ten bucks.

It's not a horribly bad idea, maybe for one of those early ww1 german smg's...

The first cap bottle opener wasn't the one on the AUG bayonet?

It's not a horribly bad idea, maybe for one of those early ww1 german smg's... Umm.... they had SMG's in 1914? We'll go ahead and give you the opportunity to retract or amend that And fellers, let's go easy on Deb eh? 1) He's brand new to our little clubhouse and doesn't yet know how 'fanatical' we get up in here. 2) He's Italian and well......Some of us may want to visit Italy one day and we don't want to piss any of them off Deb- We WW2AA uber-geeks can get a bit....shall we say 'emotional' about WW2 and the Airsoft weapons we use. We strive for accuracy of weapons, impressions (Uniform) and field operations. Most all of us have been around long enough to have done the Modern 'Spray and Pray' Airsoft with the tweaked out MP5's and Armalites and then 'evolved' into this marriage of Historical Reenacting and Airsoft that our fearless leader and mentor Gordak has been preaching for many years. (Hail Gordak! ;D ) So please take no offense by the responses here- they are all meant to guide you and help you to see the light. And understand that now that you are here, the inner change that occurs within you will be quick- you will be pointing out the same things to other fresh recruits before you know it! -G

I meant 'early' as in early in sub-machinegun history, not early in ww1. (1914 approx) They had drum fed smg's in 1918, used by the germans, relativaly rare, MP18 comes to mind. It served in the final stages of WW1. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MP18Yes I know there were no smg's in 1914!! (sry I don't have a pic of the snail-drum mag.)

Italians were the first to adopt the SMG. I'll try to find the model and type, I know I saw it somewhere.

Hello... No offense at all! I was laughing when reading! ;D ;D I know that they don't cost so much, for you that live in USA, here in Italy, customs apply the 40% (shipping costs included) and 20$ like import duty. So if I have to pay 200$ for 5 mags, I prefer to keep the original like the real-original-MP40 magazine and a custom drum (maybe only Hi Cap.. with mp5 internals or UZI...) for playing. Also because I play with people having Hicap and If I use a 50bbs magazine, I can also use the beretta springer with the same results.... Now I have a G3, it's custom, with an Handmade wooden boxmag (2500bbs) because my role is a support MG. But my little MP40 will be the gun of a stealth, dark, and good soldier, only with a drum to have some more bbs inside... Please, I won't ruin it with ris and other stuff (I don't like them! ) in the bushes they only bother your movements! Only a little, cute, drum mag made of the cover of a 25 CD's tower... Please.... I would like to train my self with welder... please... From Italy, where import duties are very high, I say to you Bye bye! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D Marco.

Have you EVER tried being stealthy with a hicap magazine of anytype?
You can't be stealthy with a Maraca strapped to your gun.

My G3 box magazine doesn't emit any sound, it has the inner walls covered with a thin layer of adhesive foam rubber.
So also my little drum will be silently.
Come on guys, I would like to have 3 measures, I cannot wait to test the welder on metal sheets, so please can you give me these measurements? If I ask measures to make my mag pouches, will you give me these dimensions?? Thankyou! Ciao! ;D ;D ;D ;D
