One of the RAREST guns in history is now being manufactured again! And I know a couple people on these boards could afford it. www.fg42.us/regulations.html

Thats insanely expensive! You can get a german made production of this beauty for less than half: www.ssd-weapon.com/engl_web/index_en.htmGerman made german gun or us made german gun...hmmm... I would never have thought, that it finally is an advantage to live in Europe when it comes to get certain firearms A fellow reenactor have just gotten the BD44, so i'm really looking forward to see if the quality lives up to the expectations.

Yes it is a real firearm. The link provided is one that is being produced here in the US. The initial price if I remember was in the neighborhood of $5,000, but due to increased production costs and what not it kept rising and rising until the final cost was $10,000...which in my eyes is not worth it because for $10,000 you could buy an original MP40 provided you have the paperwork complete.

Seems they are looking to "bend people over" on the price. I'll pass. For reenacting I have my kar98. Can't go wrong with that.

I prefer the second model Fg42. That curved handle doesn't do it for me. Neither does the price of a car to own it.

Yeah but in Washington State and others you cannot own a machine gun no matter how much you beg and plead. The opportunity to get an FG 42 semi auto and actually have an FG 42 even for $10,000. They will have no problem selling it for that price.

$10,000 .ouch. For that money, i'd invest in an original MP40 or MP44.(provided I lived in a state other than New Jersey).. I wonder if its going to shoot 7.92?

Had a chance to look at the FG 42 in person today. It is incredible and easily worth $10K (if you have it) He will also be doing the FG42 accessories (scopes, grenade launchers, grenade sights, etc.) This is a high end piece and well worth it if you ever wanted to own a real FG 42. Hopefully the Model 2 will come along at $5K as he will be making more of them (a few thousand.) He is also considering a model 2 airsoft gun as it would be the easiest to modify. To help convince him please send him an email telling him how cool it would be as an airsoft gun. I am hoping to get him into airsoft (showed him the VFC BAR and he was very impressed.) This guy is a professional fabricator and a big fan of Fallschirmjager stuff (he runs the local reenactors unit out of Bellingham). If he felt he could break even he would produce many high quality german airsoft guns. So let him know you are interested and what you want.

phantom, then do it my man do it! I would gladly pay $5000 for a semi auto model 1 FG 42(I would pay 10K but don't have access to cash like that.) or about $2000 for an airsoft version. (or both if you give me 2 years to raise the funds.

Wow. This thread is going again? So troyluginbill.....You met the guy making these guns? And he is making a model 2 for 5,000...with a SCOPE option? That's almost worth it. I'll start saving now and this will be me in a year or so.......

Yep, that would be you. he will also be making a rifle grenade launcher to go with it. I have already begun saving for the model 2. Although I love the looks of the model one more than the 2 the ergonomics of the gun are just awful. That bolt will give you a new definition of garand thumb all along the top of your forfinger and thumb. The bipod out and out sucks on the model 1 as well as its direction of collapse is in the direction of the kick (backward into the shooter.) I understand this was done because they figured guys would hunch forward into the gun but that was not the case so they reversed it on the model 2. But anyway. Yep a semi auto model 2 5K. If anyone were to make an airsoft FG 42 I am sure they could get a couple grand each on one of those. I don't think one was ever made? Anybody ever hear of any? (the one sold by WW2guns is a complete fabrication there is no plastic FG42 kit nor will he put a box into said kit.)

binary, cool. I have been looking for that kit for a long time and nobody could ever tell me anything about it. It looks like they raked the motor angle back on a v. 2 gearbox to get it in the handle. Anybody able to read Japanese to find out more about the kit. (manufacturer, details, etc.) The only airsoft FG42 I ever saw was a custom job done by some guy about 3 years ago. He shoehorned the whole thing into a shoei model gun somehow.

Its off the link you posted. When you look at the gearbox pics notice they remove the motor and reattach. It actually looks like it reattaches lower on the gear box with some sort of extension gear.

I've got an 1879 Vetterli. That's rare enough for me.
Anywho, I wouldn't bother buying these for reenacting. But buy a blankshooter, or be a Landser and save cash.
