Awesome job compiling it, editing it and combining real footage with the weekend event. Great music selsction. I'm surprised you didn't include the ambush footage but perhaps you could add some of that and other out takes maybe even some still shots and make a formal CD from the event. It took me several times to get it up and loaded but it was well worth the wait. The best NAM soft footage I've seen yet.

The instructors were all combat veterans both Vietnam and contemporary. The call for fire mission which was repeated twice as part of a rotation was obviously quite theatrical and gave an airsoft experience for the participants that was probably unlike anything they had ever done before. I wish they'd shown the ambush footage which was also very cool.

Ambush footage and other detailed shots will be included on the DVD for release to the participants. Next year the course will include a course on actions of a point man, Taught by Kregg Jorgenson who survived 54 missions in Vietnam as a point man and was awarded 2 bronze stars and a silver star to go along with his 3 purple hearts. a boobytrap lane and more perimeter defense which was a fun but brief element of the event.
We'll also include missions that are not identical but in fact support one another allowing additional time for planning and rehearsal prior to deployment. For example two of the patrols might go on an area recon while two others function as a reaction team and still another occupies a radio relay point between the TOC and TAOR
We'll also use RECONDO graduates to teach some of the sessions and act as LOs for the patrols filling out their observation sheets. To maximize the effort extended for set up and take down of the camp and Vietnam villages within the AO we'll probably hold two events back to back in consecutive weekends since one session is already almost sold out. The sessions will be next August so a year to plan and prepare.

I received inquiries from a fellow who somehow saw this film clip and wants to explore a reality TV show built around it. Not sure how that would work exactly as it's a three day event but I'll certainly talk to the guy.

I just got all the raw footage and compiled all the best still imagery for use in a DVD. It is top notch and will be a tremendous keepsake for those who attended and anyone interested in Vietnam and Namsofting.

It'll go out first thing Saturday. Let me know what you think. I've watched it about 10 times and have picked up something new each time. Much of what's on film I wasn;t around to see at the time so it's cool to watch. It highlighted to me some areas for improvement for next years event and they are already in the works or already done.

There is some talk now about using the RECONDO school as a basis for a Reality TV show! This trailer actually sparked the interest. We will pitch the concept at the TV producers convention in january!
It would be either for the History Channel, Spike TV or the Outdoor network. Wouldn't that be kinda fun?

That'd be great! I'd love to have you attend. We may be putting one on in california as well as doing our usual event in August up here. In addition we're planning to put on a huge Vietnam themed total immersion weekend game. Full period impressions and weapons, music, grass huts period correct vehicles etc. With a night defensive position and constant patrolling and mission direction for both sides.

The event is a difficult "Show to take on the road" The props, tentage, Grass huts, rubber rafts NVA and VC impressions take alot to transport and vehicles frankly just add alot and are pretty tough to arrange outside the immediate area. We have a camp set up with a classroom and billets in the form of GP Small squad tents for each of the patrol elements and there is a pretty extensive cadre of RANGER qualified instructors. Not something you just pack up and do elsewhere. It's a ton of work to put on locally.
There's a possibility of doing it in California because a sponsoring element down there claims they would be able to provide all of that (except the cadre) at a movie ranch which makes it a remote possibility.
We will be holding at least one session this coming year and probably two sessions as one session of 42 students is already filled.
