This is a great short video I'm guessing most footage dates back to the original incursion since there is extensive use of artillery, air support and tanks which are not as prevalent during our current counter insurgency phase. www.youtube.com/watch?v=y9MkXC1hJNE

Over kill is a funny term. Dead is dead when it's me or them I'm going to do whatever I need to and use whatever available means to ensure they die, surrender, poop their pants or run away. WAR is horrible for everyone. Soldiers on both sides, civilians, family members at home everyone. When and if, you decide to go to war, you better do it with the mindset that civility timidity and delicacy are gone. Otherwise don't go to war. You're going to lose otherwise.
In WW2 we used 8 inch guns at point blank to clear buildings and bunkers. We bombed entire cities. We were horrific barbarians but if we hadn't been we would have lost and the world would be a different place. Norway would certainly be speaking German.
The 5.56 round doesn't penetrate cinder block walls very well so the troops have taken a liking to the Ma Deuce 50 Caliber and the 7.62 from the M-14 both fairly ancient weapons have become new found favorites.
