For all who question why anyone would want to pay $200.00 to go to a John Lu big game. Here is some amateur footage from the most recent Operation Irene which was held at the Huge Stussmen Urban Combat training Center at Ft Knox Kentucky. The Lion Claws series is the grand daddy of big games and this facility is by far the coolest venue anywhere. This is a 30 minute clip but gives you a great sense for the event. The Strykers are one of many nationally recognized teams that often participate and they are great guys and an exceptionally good airsoft team. video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-8086248180136599522

It was worth every penny ;-) This year was my second year going to Irene at Zussmann and once again I had a pleasurable experience.
And yes, the guy in the video said... bicycles. We had some guys in Charlie bring out military bicycles and used them for the main assault. Afterwards they were used to ferry medical supplies to medics who needed them. The video from those guys are somewhere on Youtube.

Green Mountain Rangers brought the bikes. It was NOT cheating, plenry of SoCal players bitched about that till the cows came home. www.gmrangers.org/ns1/What's funny is, you can hear the GMR guys say, "stack up GMR" on both videos. That's strange, when the Strikers are next to the firetruck, they cut the video right before they get owned by a Charlie Co. Member!

Yup. The GMR guys are pretty cool. Had the pleasure of my STL squad working with them a few times. And no, it was NOT cheating... Delta's piss poor attitudes throughout the game absolutely SUCKED but I didn't let it get to me. I just had fun shooting at them :-p

I was with Delta and I thought the bicycles was brilliant. Didn't bother me a bit. Its funny how an idea if it's someone elses is cheating and if it's yours its a stroke of genius. In my opinion it fell well within the spirit of the rules as well as the letter of the rules. Not everyone on Delta had a piss poor attitude. There were alot of great folks on both sides and the usual share of A-----oles In both cases I'd say they were the exception not the rule.
It goes back to the notion if you're playing airsoft and get consumed with winning you're ultimately going to lose. An activity that is based on and fully dependant on integrity and honesty isn't conducive to competition in the traditional sense. When I play I strive to conduct my efforts authentically and correctly and just have fun. That usually leads to a field dominance that while it looks like wininng is just playing the game. An emphasis on "Winning and losing is a big mistake in my opinion relative to the game of airsoft.
There was althogether too much testosterone at Stussman for my taste. Other then that it was great and the venue was awesome. Hopefully they'll be able to secure it again next year although it appears doubtful.

Great footage as well. Nice touch with the music. Lion Claws will no doubt edit all the footage from all the helmet cams as well as that shot from the folm crew and market and distribute a DVD covering the event.

Not worth the 200 clams for me to go again this year but if you have never been it is an awesome venue to play at. Many people that went to both Irene 3 and then down to Hammerfall at a MOUT site in Florida said they enjoyed playing Hammerfall more. It was cheaper aswell. Mindgame productions puts on the events in Florida might be worth a look if you missed Irene or are not to hot on giving over so much cash to someone.
