I got a case of BAWLS! A pair of HBT Trousers as an early gift but nothing today except my BAWLS...I will be ordering a new set of M1943s shortly however since my parents never know what to get me and we didn't have time to order them before christmas. I will also be getting some more insignia and a garrison cap most likely.

I got a couple WWII books including D-Day Paratroopers: The Americans. This book is FREAKIN' AWESOME! It is a complete guide to US Airborne forces in Normandy. MUWHAHA, I will be the ultimate Airborne Stitch Not-See. JK, I will post a review when I'm done. I also got some WWII models and WWII: The Complete History Collectors Edition on DVD. I'm putting my Christmas money towards my impression. I've got over $400 saved, thanks to my Grandparents and "Reader's Digest". Have a safe and Happy Holidays people.

I got an M1911 from my grandfather. It's the kind that really kills people. mind you, it's not an A1 model either, and came with a holster. I figure it was all made in between 1912-1916. I also got a Walther P38, made in '45.
I'm accumulating a stack of money with which I shall buy a new kit, though I am still wondering what I should do.

Well, I feel stupid posting under Polak after he told us about the real weapons he got, but I got a 1911, a couple extra mags, and I'll be getting one of 2nd Bat's Garands soon. I'll be picking up some stuff (M41, m1 helmet, holster and mag pouch for 1911) from Zak and Lawdog soon enough. So, overall pretty good christmas

I know many of us old timers would love to see pics of that 'first edition' 1911! Based on the dates, I'm thinking it should be with out finger recesses, a curved mainspring housing, or a short trigger- let's see it! -G

Like Guiness I'm typically my own Santa and got lots of bits and parts both for my Garand projects and the Springfield 03 project. My middle daughter got me a cool book on WW2 trivia. It's pretty detailed and challenging. I thought I knew it all and am finding I get about 60% of them with absolute certainty another 20% that are educated guesses another 10% through elimination and 10% that I had no idea about. A perfect book to stimulate the ego while still educating the mind.
Somewhere down the road I'll post some of the questions. They're well done.

"My middle daughter got me a cool book on WW2 trivia"
I believe I got that same book, "World War II trivia Quiz Book, by Erhard Konderding"? I'm having a hard time figuring out the occasional answer as well.

If its a true pre 1920s 1911 with ALL original parts, with maching cereal numbers, and in good condition. It could be worth over $1,500. I own a 1911 made between WW1 and the mid 20's. And is in very good condition, all maching cereal numbers and in good condition. Some one tryed to buy it off me at the gun range, but my grandfather gave it to me in his will. So, I dident sell it.

Presents I bought the week before Christmas (for myself): Still waiting on my MP40 AEG (the new one), got a DAK replica helmet, blank P38 with blanks and mostly $ cash $ from the family. I am contemplating a Fallschirmjager (1942 Tunisia brushed camo) replica helmet as well.
