I have an article in my new WWII magazine issue saying Doc Bradley raised both flags on Iwo Jima. Has anyone read this article or know what i'm talking about? I'll try to find it onthe interent.

Yeah, Didnt he want to keep the 1st one so he had the marines take it down and raise a bigger one? (The one used for war propaganda).

Doc Bradley wasnt even on suribachi when the first one was raised......It was someone of much higher rank who wanted the second one up - he wanted to keep the first one for the company or division, so they had another one put up. When he gave the order for the first one to be taken down, he told them to make the next one a bigger one....

Do you even know how many corpsmen were on Iwo? Doc Bradley himself said he wasnt involved with the first flag....

They took down the first flag because it was too small.

They took down the first flag because it was too small. Actually they took it down because some politician wanted it. They put up another one so they wouldnt have to give up the original one. Size was an after thought. I've been searching all over, but I cant find it - I know I saw a pic of the first flag raising and had named the medic in the photo, but I cant find it anywere.....
