I just sold my Thompson to Pfc. Neville here on the forums and bought this. It's a TM G3 SG-1 modified with real steel CETME wood. After owning a real CETME, I always wanted an airsoft version. It's already internally upgraded with new gears, motor, bearings, and spring. I plan on getting a metal receiver and cocking tube to finish it up. I've got a surplus sling on the way too. This is my first airsoft rifle, as I have always owned SMGs in the past and I'm really liking the range on it. I plan to fill the marksman role with my airsoft group. -Collin

I'm sure if you modify the stock you could have a pretty good stand in for an StG44.

Maybe a new paint job and if he replaced the wood stock with a metal one without holes then a new paint job (Excluding the rifle butt of course). And get rid of the flash supressor. Also he'll need Banana clips. Then he'll have a more than passable MP44.

I am in no way trying to convert this into an MP44. I am an WWII reenactor (82nd Airborne) and I don't do WWII airsoft.

Schutze, being a german, I would think you would realize the coolness of the CETME. The designer, Ludwig Vorgrimmler, worked for Mauser during WWII and fled to Spain after the war. He based his design on the StG-45 which was suppose to replace the StG-44 as a more cost efficient assault rifle. The CETME then served as H&K's blueprint for the G3 and the rest is history. Pretty damn cool, if you ask me.

Would it comfort you to know that the wood was eventually replaced with a synthetic stock? ;D My real steel CETME had a green synthetic stock and fore end, sorta like a G3. I personally like the wood better, since it's not really too terribly modern - first being manufactured in 1957.

Me too, but I really only collect real steel WWII guns. Shooting your friends with replicas is definitely fun, but there's nothing like holding a piece of history in your hands.

Sorry, I sold that CETME almost two years ago. It was a CAI receiver and a bit of a lemon. I'd really like one with a MARS receiver. The only remnants I have of it is this short little video clip a friend and I made. We were out shooting my CETME and Kar98k and decided to film a bit of it. Instead of just filming us standing there shooting we decided to put this little thing together. Nothing special, just a product of boredom. www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOqJZAAqJuU-Collin
