Standard British LBE equipment afaik . look at this pics of British snipers in Iraq And you could also try and get one of this: a thermal imaging-protected ghillie suit

I am going to hijack the thread a bit, but I have a question.
Would it be more likely that the men in a two-man sniper team carry the same weapon (as per the first, awsome picture), or would the spotter usually carry something else? (M16, L85, something like that)

Spotter usually carries an m4 or an m16 in the United States Military, and the brits carry the L85. There is an excellent show on snipers on the history channel it was like a 3 episode ordeal. In the first photo it looks to be that there is no spotter in the photo -Nick

The spotter would not carry another sniper rifle, for the British Army they would very likely have an L85. I saw the show(s) about snipers that Azeeze is talking about, very very good series imo, if you can find it somehow then I suggest picking it up.
Man, those photos are awesome Adler.

That ghillie is silly I saw one a similar ghillie suit at my local surplus store once....going for about 150, YIKES! Just use a regular old ghillie...you could even make a pretty good looking one. Oh, and there are brit snipers in COD 4, so you could always use THAT as a refrence ;D www.snipercountry.com/Articles/BritishSniperTraining.asp

OK i used to be a British soldier so i'll tell you how it was done up to 2001
Snipers work in two man teams the spotter has an LSW l86, its accurate to 800metres as opposed to the l85s 600 and has a bipod making it easier to lie up with in the aim.
Kit is exactly as per a regular soldier but you make your own ghillie out of old kit.
Only specific sniper kit i recall was a sniper smock with padded elbows/forearms and metal hooks on the back of the arms to put your sling on to drag the rifle when crawling. I had one briefly but its useless if you;re a normal infanteer.
The only other kit i ever saw and i really anted was a subdued regimental capbadge in cloth, that was well gucci...
I also saw snipers paint their boots green... no joke.
The UK sniper course is very bloody hard with something like an 80%+ failure rate.
