What is a good VSR to build out of? If I am going to buld a bolt rifle I would like something with some oomph. I also want something that is going to last a few seasons.

The original VSR is of course the rifle all the clones copied. Unfortunately they are fairly expensive and have to be upgraded to perform reasonably as a bolt action rifle. I have had great luck with the VSR clones with the best being the BAR 10 clone which shoots at 365 FPS right out of the box and can be upgraded with all VSR components. Another good base rifle is the TSD 700. I would avoid the MP001 as durability seems to be something of an issue. I've had really great ones and really bad ones so if you're going to the effort of the conversion hoping you got a good one is too much of a risk.

I bet you could fit an AGM M-14 internals set into that ReisingSMG stock. I bet the set up would work.

tommygunner. Got one on the way and once done with the carbine it will be onto a reising. Fantastic!!!! As soon as Im done at NIU I hoep to have one ordered as well and start playign around with it. In thinking a bit more on what internals may work better, I think an Mp-40 gearbox will fit much much better and work better than an M-14. Hmmm I do have both gear boxes and as soon as I can place an order in a few weeks Im gonn see what will work. What are your ideas for this project? TommyGunner

I'm thinking an M14 gear box. The reising reciever is basically a tube. The mag well will be the difficult part-I am thinking about adapting a thompson mag well and using the short thompson mag....much easier than converting. The barrel will be interesting as it was finned like the M1928, so I need to find an appropriate substitute without breaking the bank.

I'm not sure how much one of these will run you troy, but I believe AZR machine Co. ventured into making quasi-m1928 kits and you can get the barrel + cutz compensator from them. Their prices were decent from what I remember. May be a good option to look into. Heck, if you found all kinds of washers the right size you may be able to make a decent looking home-made barrel too.
lol. You just have to make sure this gun jams after its first few rounds and/or a grain of sand.
