Try to keep your mouth closed and breath through your nose. Your moniker says Rangers but are you sure you aren't a Marine?

The hardest part is cutting everything straight. Just relax and check your markins twice. I did everything by eye tho, since my conversion went differently than 2nd bats, slightly.

I am not sure what the difference is though I think the Narrow based Gas Cylinders are worth more. Either one will work for the conversion. Get whatevers cheaper ;D

When it says "hand guard liner" does it mean "front" hand guard liner? I got some more stuff for christmas and i just need a few more items ( some of the smaller parts) and then all i really need is the M14.
thanks for helping me,

How much is he selling it to you for? What exactly is wrong with it? Not trying to be nosy but your probably going to end up spending more money fixing it then with what you could buy a new M14 with. Trust me I have a broken M14 and the shop I went to charges $50 just to look at it.

How much is he selling it for? CYMA m14's can be found pretty cheap. Plus you dont risk it being un fixable.

he said a trigger assembly piece is broke that's about it. he said the internals are fine all working order. for $40 he's selling it. plus. he's gonna give it to me at a game so i can inspect it.

Hmm sounds fine and the price is super cheap. Test it at a target 45-60 yards away and make sure it hits it before you buy it.

Is it hard to disassemble the garand after built? I might want to get a new tightbore and new hop-up afterwards.

Shouldn't be too terribly hard. as long as you remember how you put it together. lol

o.k 'cause the only thing i'm gonna replace ithe inner barrel and maybe the hop-up if it fails. right now i have the M14 but it needs some fixing and I need to get 4 more parts of the garand and i'm done.

Well, sounds like you're well on your way. Are you changing your stock from the M14 stock, to one that looks more like an M1?

ok. because i was going to say that if you stick with the normal M14 stock, then all you have to do to change the inner barrel is take the reciever off the stock, and there ya go.

once you put on the front hand guard you can't pull the bolt back right? or can you cut the silver pipe about 3 inches shorter.

You should be able to work the bolt just fine depending on how you build it. You will have to file the larger hadguards inner sleave slightly to accomodate the gas tube. Removing the tube is an option although I like leaving it in for rigidity and the little bit of additional weight it affords. It also supports the sring (which slips inside) that allows your bolt action to work authentically.

On my you can't rack the bolt as the bolt is too short and everytime you pull it back it gets stuck. To fix that I plan to weld another pipe onto the bolt so it will no longer get stuck.

Hi, I have a few questions on the conversion. I have a M1 Garand conversion which I bought from someone just recently. I got it for $30 along with bandoleer and clips but only 3 out the 8 he gave me work. He said it was one of the 1st ones 2 nd Bat came out with. It is in pretty rough condition and has a good hope of restoration though. I have all of the Garand replacement parts and even some parts that are in great condition that came with it. Now I want to restore it but into like the new versions and other members have made theirs. Since this is an old model that 2nd bat made it will probably have differences than the newer ones he has created. It is shorter than the real m1 so I would like it to be up to length and as close to the Garand as possible. 1.) The hand guards These I will probably throw away. The rear one was cut and the front one had it's back part sanded off. I have these parts so they are already pretty much replaced. Now here is my question. Since I want this to be full length of the real m1 I wouldn't want to cut the rear hand guard down, right? front handguard comparison 2.) The stock The stock I would like to really keep. It has the bondo conversion done to it. But it is a tad short unless the rear hand guard must be cut then it should be fine. So I was wondering. Would I be able to extend it a little longer? I have an extra m14 stock I was thinking of cutting a piece of that off to add onto the bondo m14 stock so it would be full length and allow the rear hand guard not have to be cut. I also know I have to extend the barrel which isn’t a problem since I have two. Although I would like to keep the m14 stock since I would like to still be able to convert it back and forth. 3.) Conversion from m14 to m1 vice-versa If I can use a substitute material in place of an m14 stock chunk to the bondo stock would be nice. Like a pvc pipe cut in half or something but if not the stocks are pretty cheap anyway. Now I also would like to be able to change this from m1 to m14. But if all goes well I can just replace the m1 parts with m14. I have extra m14 barrels. One for the garand which I will extend and the other I’ll keep normal. This shows all of the garand parts. I've been looking at gmans, sgt. toms collisions and 2nd bats and many others for ideas. so thanks to you guys I also have a new idea for the gas rod and bolt. which i will share later once i get the above questions approved for being able to work.

If you want to make your stock longer you can plastic weld a piece of what you previously cut off back on that is if you still have the left over piece.
