I have used the CYMA ones without incident so far. I'll be buying a set though.

Anyone know if they are modeled after the 20 round mags or the 30 round mags?

Anyone know if they are modeled after the 20 round mags or the 30 round mags? They're 30 round mag size.

"They're 30 round mag size."
Bummer.... I'd like to see something different from the 30rd mags, even though I do not own a Thompson myself..

"They're 30 round mag size." Bummer.... +1 on that. I like my 30's but I'd like to be able to close the five cell pouch covers and not worry about rolling over and losing mags from it.

Price 110rds is still a lot though. I suppose you could just fill them up half way or something.

You can get two low cap Thompson mags for $20 on RSOV.

I hope these things feed well...I have horror stories with King Arms mags. They are nice and sturdy but feed terribly, with two bbs lodging themselves side by side often.
With these prices, they might be worth getting to convert to 20-rounders.

Well 3 cell mag pouches weren't used in ETO but they were used in the Pacific.

I have that one but I find it flops around more than I like. In fact I used that one this weekend, and everytime I went to ground it just got in the way. I mostly use it for transporting the mags in.
But thanks for the link anyway.

Hmm. Doesn't seem to bother me. Well i guess the only way to not have those problems is to get the 20rds.

Maybe its only me, but I would like to see some drum mags too.... ;D Ya I had a guy ask me about those this weekend. I know(heard of that is) someone out there made one from a springer drum, but like with just about anything else the manufacturer's are slow on the uptake. You can get everything for AK/M-4/MP5's and such, but the one area that has a growing following they just don't get it.

they feed great but are kinda tight getting in the receiver. Depending on the wear of your receiver of course. 2 of my thompsons they fit with alittle tap on the bottom to lock them in. One my thrid they need a pretty hard slap to lock them in. It actually looks like the mag gets forced to tilt forward from the receiver in order to catch. Unfortunetly i dont have any TM or cyma mags to compare them to which really really sucks. They feed great tho. I fired off a whole midcap in one long burst with no problems.
Oh and with enough time and efforct you can chop them down and make 20 rounders (approx 75 rounds)
Im gonna take pics and stuff this weekend. Ill post my twenty rounder too.

Do they have a seam running down their middle, like the Cyma ones do? Some of the pictures don't look like they have a seam, some do, and i really don't have time to read all the posts. If they do, i think i'll stick with the ones i made on my CNC machine (seamed up, but cheap as hell , and aluminum tape can fix that nasty seam), if they don't, i might be interested in getting some. Edit, looking at the mp40 ones, they really look like they have a massive seam, the Thompson ones look like they have a small seam, but i can't tell, so someone with hands on experience, do tell. Also, how are they held together? (screws, glue, etc. )

held together with glue, there is a seam but its not too terrible. The spring is held in with a pin and locking bar.

alright, so if you take them apart, do you then have to reglue them, or do the pins that hold them together snap off?
|
|
|
Post by burke on Dec 5, 2008 21:37:33 GMT -5
you have to reglue it, actually when you pry it apart it kind breaks the seam lines....I wouldnt really recommend doing it unless your making 20 rounders.....
