Okay, someone posted this on the MAA boards and the TOC (my game group) will be reconning/speaking to the prop. owner on Nov. 8th. Here's the photos of the field: s53.photobucket.com/albums/g47/DoUgH_02/RAS%20sleepyhollow/Screams Europe, don't it? Now the BIG Q- Who would go to Iowa to play this field? I want an idea of what numbers would respond to have info for the owner. He is apparently considering opening this up to Airsoft op's, but isn't sure if it would be worth it. So, everyone sound off with player numbers who would theoretically be willing to come to the heartland so I have more than just "well I think a lot would show." I think there's huge potential here!

Well this could be the kiss of death for your plans but I would certainly make the trip. That is the coolest looking terrain ever. It would be worth it just for a new avatar backdrop. Any idea how many acres? Looks like a great location to bring MN, WI, IA, IL, and MO players together. Hope this gets some positive response.

I will post nuts-and-bolts details about the field after we check it out on the 8th. And more pictures. Those seem to be(correction) most of the town. I also plan on going in my 3rd Pzgr. impression. I hope I don't scare the modern kids.

If I was back in MI, then I'd go. Question: Is that Ren-fest grounds? It looks identical to the already placed buildings at the Michigan Renaissance Festival grounds.
Still looks sweet. If I was in MI, and there was a big enough OP there, it'd be worth a drive.

Very cool. Obviuosly it would be good to know just how much terrain is available and how many folks it could accomdate. More importantly what are the venue costs so one could begin to figure out what the cost of an op would have to be. My guess is it will exceed most peoples budgets even without the travel.

Depending on how much the gate fee was and who ran the event I would try and make it. A great venue with a poor scenario still makes for a bad game.

The village looks like maybe 1-2 modern city blocks. Definitely looks like a Ren Festival venue. There would need to be 20 acres maybe for a decent game of 100 people. That includes the village but there needs to be room enough around the village to maneuver.

In the first picture(the google map shot), The red outline between the rr tracks and the river is our prospective AO. The green outline is the AO for the trial game on the 8th. The town basically occupies the upper left half of the green outline. So there is a significant area surrounding the town. We will know more once we speak to the owner.
SirVeilance- it's Des Moines.

I suspect one would need somewhere in the vicinity of 100 players to justify the cost and create enough of an event type atmosphere to motivate folks to spend the money on travel. The venue sure looks cool enough.

I have been waiting for this for a very long time, im a new member on this site, and currently gathering my impression for axis, i have been to this place for school and this is great for airsoft, just plywood buildings, nothing to break/damage at all. lots of woods surrounding it and tons of space, since this is a snowboarding park, with lots of space, how much space is available? ? Is just the renaissance area availble? There of acourse plenty of buildings, dont get me wrong. applestrudel and i are good friends off the internet and would be glad to "recruit" more players if they are needed. I couldnt believe that there was no other events in iowa, this would be awesome.

I would drive in a heartbeat.
But, probably not for a mixed game... if we can work a deal with even 50% or more ww2 dressed, then I would.

I wish I could go there. Medic aren't you in Ohio? I could carpool with you there. Shoot if I drove 11 hours just to go to an MOA game, I can do the 10 hour drive to Des Moines.

CharleyNov. said "Depending on how much the gate fee was and who ran the event I would try and make it. A great venue with a poor scenario still makes for a bad game. " I agree with him on that one. I'm in Alabama L.A. so to speak . If its put on by the right people the gate fee is good i would love to make it ;D. I't is definately a great looking field and your right,....there is alot of potential,.good and bad. I would be there though .
