Wasn't JG rumored to be making a clone Thompson? From what I remember from hear'n, the date for it to hit the market was to be this past July. I'm just wonder'n, did I hear this right?

I have heard nothing about JG making a clone Thompson. And it sure is not out yet. The only other clone Tommy is the CYMA one. That or the original TM.

There was a thread I while back about it. Other than that, I haven't heard anything about it. And one thing people don't skip is news on new guns at other forums.

I think before CYMA made the thompson, there was a rumor that a Chinese company was making a thompson, and people assumed it was JG because they had the highest quality guns (chinese) on the market at the time..

It's just I have two TM Thompsons already, and thought I heard something about JG coming out with their own. I heard 400+ FPS out of the box. But with the way JG goes, that wouldn't surprize me. But just wonder'n. Thanks guys.

I think it would kind of a shame if sub machine guns right out of the box shot 400 FPS. I'd love to see airsoft weapons that represent pistol ammunition shooting at 300 FPS or less and rifle ammunition weapons (that are longer and more obtrusive to field) have a bit of an edge in FPS and range. I know that's heresy for the box magazine, upgraded, MP5 K crowd but that's my feeling. We've had this discussion before but I think it merits serious consideration as we move forward with this hobby.

That's a nice thought, 2nd Bat. But it would have to happen on the manufacturer's end of things, as I doubt our more fiscally challenged members would tolerate the idea of spending even more money downgrading a brand new gun. And good luck getting the manufacturers to go along, they can't even seem to get release dates right. Again. Nice thought, and I agree. But then again, world peace is a nice thought, but I ain't holdin' my breath for that one either.

I personally don't care as much for the fps. i would like it to be 300-330 at most since that means better engagement distances and less injuries to other players. i prefer my fps to be around 300-350 at most. but jg like said must'v been mistaken for the CYMA.

Shadycadence of course is right, I'm mostly dreaming but we've seen groups locally eventually go along with restrictions and hinderances that we never thyought would fly. (Semi auto rules. limited mag capacity, MGs actually depicted by MGs. It adds a great deal to game play and if you persist long enough folks seem to eventaully get it. Sub machine guns should have range restrictions vs rifles and the best way to do it is to either restrict FPS or eliminate hop up for SMGs. The Maruis were great as at 290 FPS they seemed about right. These new Chinese guns seem to keep shooting hotter and hotter to where as 5th Ranger mentions saftey begins to be a factor unless everyone has full face guards or at least mouth guards.
If we're going to encourage a battlefield with more Kar 98s, and fewer Thompsons and MP40s we probably ought to think a little about things before the fact. I'm probably just dreaming but it seems worth commenting on. As for an additional Thompson who knows. My guess is it will probably be rebrand of the CYMA. Interestingly I thought the same thing with all the clone M14s but in fact they are all seperate productions with few shared components.

I ordered my second Marui M1A1 yesterday (traded my first one off- bad, bad choice) The TM power level does indeed seem to fit the range restrictions. 280 fps doesn't send BBs very far, especially compared to upgraded M14s and Tanaka KAR-98ks I just wish there was some of this WWII airsoft going on in MD- too bad
