Hey i was just wondering, with all the Stens out there has anyone ever thought of making a Type 100? The first and only Japanese SMG during WWII, heres a link to the page about it on Wikipedia: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Type_100_submachine_gun

Cool looking gun. Perhaps if more people did WW2 Pacific, someone would tackle it. On the other hand perhaps if there were more Pacifric Theater weapons people would be more inclined to do the Pacific!

Well they have a Nambu, Knee Mortar and Arisaka Types 99 and 38. I just wish more people would go for Pacific, because I have a full IJA infantry impression ready. Just need a Testu-bo (helmet) and leg wrappings and I'm ready!

Well unless they are doing an IJA paratrooper impression i don't see a regular IJA leg carrying one. It was produced in really low numbers and a lot of Officers where not to willing to have them issued to their troops, the round was a weak round and the Type 100 was prone to jamming .

I still think it's a cool gun, and I personally would love to do a Pacific Theater impression. However, while reading through a book of facts of the Pacific theater,(with full color pictures, labels, and references) I found that it was not the only SMG of the IJA. One of the few however, definetly the biggest one. I would love to have a "captured" Type100!

Actually MGW will have a working AEG version finished by August, all wood and metal.

Just sayin'!

Maybe his tommy took a applesauce on him and he picked up the nearest thing he could find on the battlefield that would put hot lead down range...he would of course discard it as soon as humanly possible or try and keep it as a sovenier maybe....

As someone once said to me: maybe his M1 (or thompson in this case) got blown up by a mortar round!

mgw totally stole my idea on the type 100! i had the idea of a type 100 using those real nice and cheap 5 dollar mp5 mags (the ones for the aegs). simple enough build i thoght because the late war type 100 was crude and simple. never actually did it, just a thought.

Obviously neither did MJW. These things seem easier in the mind than they do in reality and folks intentions are often quite seprate from either their capacity, funds or motivation. I have little enthusiasm for peoples intentions but get real excited when I see what creativity and effort folks extend to things they've actually done.

wow that actually looks good! another cool thing is if someone were on a budget, the mp5 mags i saw for the LPEG's are about $5. cheap mags are good. also, the barrel jacket could be made out of some odds and ends of pvc piping! however id much prefferably make it out of steel, this is still a great project for anyone.
