Ditch the HBT's and get wools. Also I wouldn't suggest getting the ATF M41 Jacket it is really cheap. Keep an eye out on ebay and the WWII Reenactors board. I'd say you need Wool Shirt and pants, M41 or M43 field jacket depending on what time period you portray, First aid pouch, canteen and cover, Boots Service shoes, rough outs or Buckle boots, A cartridge belt if you have an M1 Garand or a Pistol belt a 5 cell ammo pouch or GP bag if you carry a Thompson, and an M1 Helmet. Additional gear would be Haversack, Mess kit, half tent, wool blanket, 1910 T-handle shovel or 1943 Folding shovel. Look at WPG they have some great stuff for cheap. onlinemilitaria.net/default.asp At the Front is also a great vender www.atthefront.com/And if you want to go expensive WWII impressions is the way to go www.wwiiimpressions.com/ Good luck

I have found that Bayonet, Inc., has some great stuff at very reasonable prices. I found a pistol belt, M1936 suspenders and a M1910 canteen cover all for under $50 total

I got original M-36 suspenders, pistol belt, and canteen, cup and case for $40 bucks. So you can do better on the price too.

Cottonbailer,
It is coming apart now, the bottoms of the pockets are ripping out, color is nasty, eyelets are getting loose etc... I'm saving up for a nice one, maybe Schipperfabrik.
My advice, save up money and get a new repop ($50-$80), or a 2nd hand repop ($20-50)

At the Front
Hessen Antique
Grigsby Militaria
They have the BEST gear. By the Sword, Atlanta Cutlery et al, basically sell junk. That goes for IMA for the most part too. You want cheap, you will get cheap quality! Save your money, buy QUALITY uniforms and geaqr. It will save you tons in the long run! I've been in the hobby 20 years, I've gone through more junk than I care to remember! Buy from well known WW2 vendors, not from places who don't specialize in it.

original gear is great for displays or for looking dman good, but in my personal opinion (and i dont mean to make an argument here) it is a all out sin to wear original gear and uniforms in abattle. ESPECIALLY an airsoft game, where the gear can actually get damaged. Of course its different for US, British, and even German reenactors because the gear and uniforms are so common, but I look at it the same way I look at my original gear. I have priceless items, original battle worn uniforms of the Italian army in ww2. I would never dare to wear it because if I damage somthing that is a piece of history.... Id just cut myself right there. Its not worth the risk, respect the history. Sorry if I sound like an old fart but I feel only repro gear should be used in a reenactment, blank or airsoft

We try not to use original kit for battles, only for living history displays.
British webbing is cheap and plentiful but clothing is getting increasingly rare, blanco is getting non existent and we're having to have repro blanco created.
British airborne kit can fetch up to £500 for a smock or a helmet even in bad condition.
