I purchased this at an antique shop thinking it was some sort of airborne riggers belt. The pouches are larger than a Garand pouch but not as large as a BAR pouch. They look just like riggers pouches. The belt underneath is as wide as a BAR belt. Some one suggested it was a WW1 Medic belt and theat they were also worn in WW2. This is a mystery to me. The .45 pouches were not on it when I bought it but they slid on quite nicely and filled out the belt

hmm, it sort of looks like a rigger type thing. its definitely not a medical item. i think its some sort of grenade belt, they also look about 1/2 lb TNT sized too. but who would pack around that much explosives? ill bet you could fit 3 or 4 carbine mags in one of those pouches. My guess is its a rigger item, or "field made

I think that it looks (like Deacon) like a grenade or TNT belt of some sort. It sort of resembles those Grenade Vests used. Could it possibly be used by Engineers? It might be the Medical Belt (so long that it has 10 pockets). It has open snaps so it was the earlier version of it. Is it made by Mills?

Made by Mills. 10 Pockets. Definitely the medical belt for bandages. The question is, is it the enlisted or officers version since the difference is size of the pockets and I have no reference. It's a wonderful item and the pouches are a very useable size. Grenades fit very nicely in the pockets as does a 1/4 stock of TNT Obviously a nice item for a medic impression.

I doubt it is rigger made. It may be a medic's belt, or it may be a belt for the carbine. The carbine mags from WWII were 15rds, and a little bigger than the carlisle tins or soft pouches. Most rigger made items were turned in after D-Day, according to records they weren't authorized for Holland.

I guess I wasn't clear. Based on responses and input from numerous informed sources it is definitely a Medical Officers belt from the WW1 and pre WW1 era. I sold it to a fellow who will use it for his Bannana Wars impression.
