It's a good gun, but if your going to go through all of the hassle of converting a gun, start with a JG BAR10. They are better made, Tokyo Marui compatible, and outperform the MP001 in all ways.

Ok, but the BAR 10 is double the price and if the mp-001 can be converted it works for me.

You get what you pay for and as mentioned in two previous threads including the long and probably terribly boorish thread on the Springfield conversion I highly recommed you avoid the MP001 for a conversion Project Half of the guns I used broke within the first 500 rounds or so and weren't worth fixing. Trigger catch failed and caused the rifles to fire as you cocked them. The three that didn't break to my knowledge have soldiered on with no problems but those percentages don't bode well. I have had excellent success with the BAR 10 and TSD (Thus far) If you weren't extending the conversion effort I'd say the MP001 is a good value. It's cheap and shoots quite well out of the box but if you're going to the trouble time and expense of doing a conversion it would NOT be a good choice.

I have been convinced by you guys and sgttom to use the BAR 10 because it outperforms it, and will last longer. Thanks.

The trigger fail is quite easy to fix, though.

I looked at the trigger assembly but failed to see the easy fix and at the low price of the MP001 figured it simply wasn't worth it. I threw the three broken guns out. (Kept the simulated wood stocks for some reason!) With my conversions I use the Springfield trigger and magazine assemby which is extensively modified hence the trigger assembly is not very readily accessible. Even if I knew the easy fix I'd rather not want to have to deal with it. Hence I replaced the innards in all the Springfields with the better base gun components.

The fix can be seen as the filed indent circled in red on the first picture. The second picture shows how the metal should be no less than 4 mm in the narrowest place for the trigger to work.

I threw six, broken MP001s away. I wish I'd seen this post before I did it! I'm not 100% sure I understand what you're showing us but I suspect with them in front of me I would have figured it out.
