Ok John- Then your responsibility is to report back here to me via photographs on how you accomplish this- ok? (please)
Are you going to use the hobby paints you mentioned? and are these spray paints? because I would think brush-strokes would not have a good texture or effect.
Thanks!!

Guiness,
I will use the hobby paints (spray) after carefully taping off everything that's wood. I'll take pictures if you like but bear in mind they will not be the quality shots you take. The paint is extrmely high quality and easy to work with. Two coats should do it. They dry fast and a light buffing really gives it a great quality finish. I painted all my M-16 VNs and XM-177s using gun metal paint and everyone thinks they have metal parts. I also paint my magazines the dark aluminum color as it's more period correct gives the gun a tri color effect (black hand guards and stock, gun metal reciever group and lighter magazines) It also makes it easy for me to keep track of "my" magazines
I painted the M1919A6 with the buffingmettalizer paint so look closely at those shots if you'd like. I did a quick sloppy job as I knew I'd be redoing it anyway once I finished the gun. Wish you and your son could make it up for the Battle of the Bulge event.

Thank you as usual my friend! I am going to break the Garand down to her three groups to paint her- So that I am clear, are you planning on using 'Gun Metal' or is there a parkerized or od color avail for the Garand? I also take it that you aren't selling her anymore? We would love to be able to come up there for that, but the 'gubment keeps a pretty tight leash on me these days However, there is a possiblity of some Colorado events this spring or summer and of course there is always the RMFCSA event in May- we'd love to have you guys come down to beautiful Colorado and shoot the real toys! www.rmfcsa.org/-G

I hate to say it but I kinda got the shootin real stuff outta my system with uncle sugar paying for it but would have to admit if given chance and it was free I wouldn't hesitate to go rock n roll with real steel again. I once heard a Chaplain say firing the Ma Deuce was the closest he ever felt to God! He always hung out at the .50 range and helps us shoot up all the unused ammo.
In terms of the Marushin if someone was going to buy one anyway and wanted 10 spare clips, the original box and a properly broken in gun with all the screws loctited and were willing to pay close to what I'm in it $600.00 (I'd need $550 shipped) I'd sell it since I have the two AEG Garands but otherwise I'm perfectly contented to keep it.
As for the OD parkerization shades I haven't seen that. I used the gun metal which I think looked right. It matched perfectly the handguard clips and butt plate from the real guns

Roman and I went this year and he got such a kick...literally! out of shooting the AK47 and Thompson and the M2 carbine and a bunch of others- this year I'm going to let him shoot the M1919's and MG42's and Ma Deuces. I will 'advertise' your Maru on the Colorado Airsoft site www.coloradoairsoft.org/index.phpand see if anyone there may be interested! -G

Guiness- Actually that wasnt me in the first series of pictures, but one of my friends that encouraged me through the process of buildiing it. This is me I would never want to do doing somthing as absurd as nail painting, unless its an accidental side effect of painting somthing else. Also, Ive recently completed my current project. Its a 1919a4 .30 browning parts kit that I fabbed up a dummy sideplate for, and put AEG internals into. Details to follow...

I'll be anxious to see details on that as that is my next project. I'm waiting for the CA mech box or Star Red box from their M249 as I think either would be a good set of giblets.

I too am waiting to see either of those gearbox's hit the market, Star seemed to make a big point out of how quick you can change the whole gearbox on their m249 so I assume they will sell them seperatly? They look like they would be great for custom jobs.
Where is the BAR article on Arnies? I couldn't find it.

Those of you who own a TOP MP40 Mechbox,, Know how compact it is. Any one thought about the Possibility of using the PGC Top MP 40 mechbox when its released to Make a BAR?
Also,, Every now and then I send a picture link to SHOEI of the BAR,, just to drop a little hint. ;D
I would much prefer a HPA Powered BAR over an AEG bar anyways.
