I'm interested in doing a 10th mountain impression; dont get me wrong, I love all the airborne stuff thats out there, but I wanted to go with a unit that not everyone is going to choose.
Any suggestions for a first timer? I have the Thompson and the Colt already.

I acquired a mint 10th mountain parka (Khaki) and a 1942 dated mountain ruck which would be a heck of a start.
If you're interested in them let me know. Wouldn't it be cool if someone did an Ivar Johnson SMG?

Great shot of a very rare and interesting weapon. They were used by both the Devils Brigade and the 10th Mountain and I heard that some were traded to a Marine unit in exchange for a sizeable quantity of C-4. I have only seen one in person and was impressed with it's creative layout and small size. It'll probably never happen but it' sure be a cool AEG!

thank you Sir! They actually had it availible to shoot this year at the .50cal event- I didn't get the opportunity this year, but it is certainly on my list for '06! The other 'obscure' WWII weapon that I was always interested in is the 'Reising' I've never seen one of these in person- kinda looks like a combination between a Thompson, a M1 Carbine and a MP40. -G

Wow I thought I knew weaponry. I never even heard of that gun let alone see or shoot one. reminds me somewhat of the Russian SMG. It appears to be a picture from the Pacific Theater (Bouganville Perhaps) Note the shirtless trooper and the fixed bayonet on the Garand! Could these be code talkers?

The only place I've seen any 10th items is: www.whatpriceglory.com/usunif.htm They have a mountain parka for $85.00 plus shipping. A good place to see what the uniform looked like is this museum shot: members.aol.com/backto1944/mtnzoom.htm I have this exact parka and mountain ruck sack I've seen the goggles around but I'm guessing the crampons and hat would be a tough item to find. Good luck.

Oh, the Johnson. Heck, both the Reising and Johnson weapons could sell for a good fortune. I wish I had one.

I am working on an airsoft Reising. I will be using classic airsoft internals from a jac uzi or the new ye mp5. I am just looking for the Reising compensator and sights to complete the shell. I want my next project to be the Johnson but I am having trouble finding the all the parts.

the reising smg was a weapon that was fielded mostly with the 1st marines at the 'canal.it was found really quickly to be a weapon that was unsuitable for any sort of combat use and the few that weren't literally thrown away by their owners were re-issued to many stateside police units and POW guard units.it just would not function in any sort of environment where it got dirty.it would immediatly jam..i've heard several stories of marines actually having to throw them at attacking troops when they jammed when needed most.very collectable now a days.the gun itself could be built with a homemade stock and the uzi internals.the mags would look the part too....you'll have a hell of a time finding any accesories for it though.the pic is probably of one of the few still in use after the 'canal.here's the link.. www.olive-drab.com/od_other_firearms_smg_reising.phplove this shot of a paramarine at gillespie field in el cajon,ca. the johnson LMG had a much better track record.it and the some of the M1941 johnson rifles were issued to the 1st marine raider rgmt. for the raid at makin atoll.after that action the 1st raiders were in california at the same time the 1st special service force, the devil's brigade were returning from their deployment for the alutians campaign.this was when the famous swapping of the 1ton of plastic explosive for most of the johnson LMGs took place.it became a signature weapon of the FSSF.it would be pretty easy to do in an airsoft version as well. www.olive-drab.com/od_other_firearms_mg_m1941m1944johnson.php3

Funny thing is, my uncle actually has a Johnson LMG, which is in great condition. If he were to sell it right now, he could draw in at least a good $50,000, and that was the lowest bidder. He does not plan to sell it, and it is a great weapon. Wonderful. I do not know how he got a hold of it, but it's amazing.
Actually, many Southeast Asian countries got their hands on 'em, as Johnsons were loved by the Dutch.

The Greek armed forces in wwII had the Johnson LMG but it supposedly performed horribly. I'm sure like cuba, they still have some sitting around somewhere.
