Welll, I think you should have to use something different than a M14 Mag as the M14 mag is bigger than the carbine. Good Luck man! You will be one of the first to make a M1A1 Carbine AEG!

thanks meister, i think i came up with a solution to the mag problem, my idea is to get a marushin carbine mag (if they sell them indvidually) and gut it then put new internals into it

Marushin Carbine mags are rare and expensive. It would be way easier to buy a real one.

I would try to see if and Mp-5 gearbox would fit and then use Mp-7 mag internals fitted into a reall M1 carbine magazine.

MP5 gearbox won't fit. It's a V2 gearbox and it's way too big. An mp7 gearbox and mags have the highest chance of working well. Sadly, a fairly underpower gearbox. I have played around with this quite a bit and it's not going to be an easy task. Not trying to stop you, but just a warning, this is going to be a very involved project. Do some research on gearbox types, making sure it will fit before you hack up a $200 m1a1 stock.... and take it slowly. Good luck!

I have been screwing around with an AEG Carbine for some time as well (not an M1A1 version though)
I have not posted any information on it anywhere but expect a finished prototype by August that will be ready for purchase.
I dont have any details other than that to give you becuase they are secret!

It looks like you could of used a clear airsoft gear box and used a mini m16 mag
