Ok, I am going to have some cash soon and these are my choices:
Get a just about full US impression*m41 jacket, hbt trousers, belt, suspenders, leggings for my boots* with Hudson m3a1grease gun and the new V.3 WA 1911
Or just get the M1 garand, no uni
Or get another US gun... no uni

I'd say go with the Grease Gun and the Uniform. Even if you do not have the gun of preference, you can still play.

Bingo. A weapon is nice, but getting the rest of your kit together in advance is wonderful! Plus, you'll be ready to jam once you get the garand.

Perhpas get a cheaper weapon and a cheaper US impression right now so you can play for now and save up for better stuff later. I would like to recommend the TM Thompson. About 300.00 new less used I may have one coming up soon for about 250.00 It's a solid gun and reliable.

Are you going for any specific impression in particular? Like generic or a specific unit, infantry or paratroops or armoredor something else? Enlisted or officer? Early war or late? That might help you decide what to get.

Well for your uniform, looks pretty good, except I'd go for wool trousers (and shirt later when you get the money). And for your web gear it would all depend on what gun you'd be getting. If you get a M1 you'd do better to have a cartridge belt and haversack than a pistol belt and suspenders and vice versa if you end up getting a thompson, grease gun, or carbine (well the haversack's always nice to have anyways; you can stuff things in the pack - you can't for suspenders). Also if you're gonna be doing enlisted maybe don't buy the pistol and use that $100+ elsewhere. As for what gun you should get, just do the research, read the reviews and think about what kind of games you're going to be using this in (ie. against other ww2 airsofters of against modern guys), and decide which gun would be best for you. I agree with the other guys too though, it would be nice to start playing and build up your kit as you go. No point having a uniform in the closet just to stare at lol! Hope that helps. Just my $.02

This is what I've been told by a friend I know who I consider to know a lot more about this than me: "WOOLS are cooler than HBTs in the fact that they breathe better than the HBTs. Wool absorbs moisture and cools you off, because it breathes; HBTs (made of closely woven cotton, very much like denim) will absorb moisture, and keep you hot, because it doesn't breathe like wool. (Wool has a whole applesauce load of itty-bitty holes that allows air to circulate.)" Plus wools were the prescribed combat uniform, and were the most common uniform while the HBT's were a fatigue uniform.
