Yeah, you guys look too clean to be portraying the paratroopers. Just roll around in the mud for awhile, sit around for about a few hours, and you'll look authentic.

The guy with Grease Gun (Scott) is wearing M51 pants. Some are paratroopers and some are infantry because we're all still gelling on the whole WWII theme. As with MANY people just getting into WWII themed events, we are a "Work In Progress" One day we will all have multiple impressions to fit multiple scenerios, but for now we're "rag-tag".

yeah I get the "You guys are so 'clean'..." comments, but we do practice some level of hygene, unlike our Euro friends- yeah I know, us Ami's have always had a thing for regular bathing and uniform cleanliness ;D I mean take Gen. Patton for example, he required all his troops to wear neckties, regardless of whether they were 'on the line' or not- But the thing that has me scratching my head is, I read those comments, and always wanting to get better, I looked around for some examples to use as a reference of just how 'dirty' we should be- So I looked at the German Impression section because my buddy Rainer offered to help out with some nice mortar fire- and other than the picture of him in the hole-in-the-ground, he's pretty clean and well-kempt- Even the three lads in the first pic in the "lets show our stuff" thread were pretty well clean...well ok, they had dusty boots- but look around in the picture- they are at an event....that's dusty!!! So I went further- I took Gordak's advice and I played a hunch- I thought "Yeah- how do the 'Hard-core' reenactors roll- that's what I will do, that's how I will advise my fellow HK'ers to be"- Gordak is right- apparently, all the reenactor-types that attended the past 2 FIG (Fort Indiantown Gap) events are sacreligous and they wash their uniforms once-in-a-while also horrors!! even the Germans!! Mien Gott! As a final 'confirmation' I went back to the "My impressions so Far" thread I started....you know the one- where our new friends from California came in to learn us a thing or two about how reenactors do things, and even their pictures show Ami's w/o holes in their expensive repro uniforms, no obvious black knees from spending all day on their knees, etc, but again, any dust and soil can pretty much be accounted for by the fact that they are walking down a dusty road in California...where there is dust! Now don't anybody take this the wrong way- Let me say that I appreciate all the helpful comments and input from my fellow WWII Airsoft reenactors and plain old WWII Airsoft players alike- I really do! But let's go ahead and refrain from the whole "Your Uniforms are too clean" thing in the future because what your really saying is "I think I'm just a wee bit cooler than you n00b" and there is no place for that here. Again it would be one thing if I had found example after example of dirty Dog Faces or even Axis troops- but I didn't..... what I found was example after example of fellow WWII enthusiasts that are just as concerned about their expensive investments as we are- Photos from the end of an all weekend tactical notwithstanding, that's pretty darn obvious- but we are taking a team photo in the back snow-filled yard- see the difference? Ok- end of rant- again, I want to stress that I appreciate all the comments of support and those aimed at helping a fellow WWII hobbiest excel- but the whole "Your too clean" thing- not so much- do some research, here's a good place to start: easy506th.netfirms.com/images/gap_2005/pages/image116_jpg.htmimg.photobucket.com/albums/v79/doctordirt/Bulge%2006/bwArtDurshimerHotCoffee.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v79/doctordirt/Bulge%2006/bwGebirgsBreak.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v79/doctordirt/Bulge%2006/bwGermanSoldierNoHelmet.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v79/doctordirt/Bulge%2006/bw1SGKilblaneAttack.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v79/doctordirt/Bulge%2006/bwGermansfileontoBus.jpgimg.photobucket.com/albums/v79/doctordirt/Bulge%2006/bwCompanyMarchingOut.jpgok....that should do it ;D *edit* And to back up what my brother Stormy said in response to the "Why some Paratroops and some Infantry?" question, as our team does not belong to a 'formal' Reenacting organization, we are fielding a 'mix' of impressions representing the variety of the soldiers that fought in the struggle to free Europe. As he said many of our team are only able to add pieces a bit at a time, however I believe we look very good and pretty darn authentic for being on 'shoestring' budgets, don't you? -G

Hehe, Guiness, I hope you find no offense in my clean statements, as they are just random ribbing, much like all the Richard Simmons jokes. In my defense though, I've never washed my uniform (Just the undershirt) an' Camp Rilea is rather sandy. The picture was taken after we had slept on the ground, marched 3km, battled, dug in, battled, spent the night, an' finally marched anouter couple of km to battle. I prefer the events where it rains, an' the ground turns to mud. Mmm, lovin' bein' a dirty bastard Anyway, it is amazing that wool has the properties to dry, an' shed all the dirt and muck which has caked itself on. I love wool. Have I ever mentioned how utterly addicted to wool I am? If not, then I shall take the time now. *injects pure wool into his veins*

2 weeks and our gear will be plenty dirty! *I'll still wash it though!* Though it will be more full of snow than anything else I suspect... *hrmm m42s in the snow...BRILLIANT* But we'll get there...if anyone asks, we were miss dropped, and had to meet up with these Drafties, but they turned out to be alright

I love it. Good luck with it all. Are all of those garands airsoft?!?!?!?

It was great to see the proportionate mix of weapons. Grease gun, carbines and of course garands. I also was impressed to see the details like leather and canvas slings. You guys look great! Keep it up!

Every time I come back and look at that I am so amazed. Garands!
Once a proportionate mix of weapons is involved in a ww2airsoft game I will come out to play. By that time I will have my Kar98.
Is it true that the germans had 1 mp40-10kar98's? With 1 mg42 for those guys?
And a somewhat similar amount for americans? Obviously this would diminish due to loses.
You guys need to put Srg and Cpr ranks on your sub. machine gunners. And also get some airbourne/infantry patches. Just a suggestion

I have recently sewn on my Airborne Patch, I'm awaiting my Sgt. Stripes (because that is the rank I have according to COASG ranking system), and I actually have a good amount of gear. I do have one thing to admitt though, my rifle sling is actually a Carbine sling, because At the Front sent me the wrong one, and for $10 buck wasn't worth shipping back.
I do appreciate the responses about our first squad, keep em coming!

Silencer, since you brought it up. The German 'squad' was based around the MG42. All members existed soly to keep it fed and keep it protected. You would commonly see quite a few Kar98s, 1 G43 (For the most experience rifleman), the MG42 Gunner, and Assistant gunner (Sometimes 3, depending on if it was a heavy MG aka, Lafette Tri-pod) and the NCOs in charge would carry a MP-40, sometimes even the second in command. Obvously there would be 1 or two pistols carried by the NCO an' the MG crew. It is nice seein' that though, the more accurate mix of weapons instead of the ever popular thompson for everyone!
