Helmet?

I was at an Army Navy Store in Chicago today, and I picked up a dark blue steel pot. There arent any markings on it, and the liner is dark blue as well. Has anyone seen one of these before? Anyone know what it is? The salesman said it was a "Special Forces helmet", but I'm not sure of that. Thanks

I believe later issue. I have been thinking that it is an MP helmet, but there are absolutly no markings on it at all. If I could find my digital camera, I would post pictures. I will post some asap. But, anyone know anything from my description above?

Dark blue? I would say like a Navy Soldier's helmet, like a gunner. That would make some sense.

Hmm....Navy....thats interesting, I'll do some research into them. Also, upon closer inspection, it has a very strange chinstrap. Kind of like a snap, but you have to jerk it out of the second piece to disconnect the two.

All the pictures I have seen have them wearing white helmets. I'm still at a loss as to what this helmet is...I should be getting pictures up by tonight.

We had already established that. I said above that I believed it was post war. Look at the liner! My question was, in any of your "travels" so to speak through Military surplus, etc. has anyone ever seen one of these?

That's a Danish copy of the M1 helmet. The OD liner strap & plastic blue liner is the "give away". A good helmet...just paint it and get it dirty. Changing the chin strap and adding a leather liner strap isn't a bad idea either.

Yea I have a danish liner like that and it works great actually, just paint it up and use it on a shell.
