Ok I said in an earlier thread that I have all of my gear together, but Being the flyboy at heart I am and having an infanant knowledge of WW2 aircraft I still do not know what exactly the USMC infanrty man carried, the reason being I am still new to the ground war.
Since that thread I have added a few things
Tell me if I am STILL missing anything for the web gear.
Original 1942 dated Kahki First aid pouch Original 1942 dated M1936 Kahki Suspenders. Original 1942 dated Kahki Pistol belt. Original 1942 dated Kahki .45 Ammo pouch. Original 1942 dated Kahki Canteen. 2 Repro 3 cell Kahki Thompson ammo pouches. Repro Leather USMC marked Colt.45 Holster. 3 Repro pinapple Grenades. M1A1 Thompson/ 6mags KWC Springer colt .45/3mags from (2nd bat)
Still need to buy the Uniform from at the front, and I found some shoes at Wal-mart that will pass perfectly for USMC foot wear.
I will not buy the backpack system, Too much $.

Well seeing as you're doing early war you'll probably want the m1910 version first aid pouch instead of the '42, and Marines had their own suspender system that was compatible with their packs, which were in fact used all the way up into Vietnam. Their pistol belts and cateen covers also varied slightly from the army issued ones, but are pretty close. All you need now is a helmet and cover, and of course a trusty Ka-Bar with a repro sheath. Early war's nice because depending on the campaign you're portaying you have a lot of leeway uniform wise. You can wear khakis, Army HBTs, or Marine utilities, and any combination in between. You can also wear either the M1 or M1917a1 helmet too, all depending on what you're doing though. But anyways good job! You're off to a great start!

Well in regards to the USMC gear my sources have shown that they were issued, at points the same gear that the army was (Especially early in the war like my ipression ;D) and it was not uncommon for you to see and early WW2 USMC with a mix of Army and USMC gear. Concerning the Suspenders I have heard that they did have there own system but earlyer in the war the did use the M1936 Suspenders and the Army Haversack. I might want to do an Iwo Jima impression also, and in that case I will have to get the M1941 USMC Suspenders and the first aid pouch like you said. I also forgot to put in there I do have a helmet TommyGunner

Yah know I have heard that too, but my Frind Joe Levato who was a WW2 USMC told me that most of his stuff was surplus Army gear, when he was first put into action, then he got issued all USMC stuff latter.
