Some partisans had Allied uniforms with the freedom fighter patch. Others wore normal clothes with the normal gear (Axis or allied gear depending on their weapon). German's could not tell the actual people that cuased the bombings (blended so well) so the germans just shot 10 civilians for every 1 german soldier killed. After the armistace though, many soldiers that were in the Italian army switched sides and fought for the allies, which is why you may see alot of 'new freedom fighters' wearing parts of the Italian army clothing. A good movie to watch is Captain Corelli's mandolin. A good focus on Italian soldiers who switched sides and worked with the greek resistance. Hope this could help!

I have a book titled "War in Italy: 1943-45" By Richard Lamb. It really gets into detail of Italian partisans, what they did, many pictures, Mussolini's 600,000 troops in the RSI, etc. It should be at your local library. I'll scan a few pictures of the pics in the book.
