I was talking to my Local Surplus store and I was asking him about a ww2 Machete Sheath, I had told him that I heard accounts of USMC being issued Leather Machete Sheaths at the beginning of the war, apparently the Sheaths were surplus.
Well he did some searching and he found an original Pre WW2 Leather USMC issued Machete Sheath and the guy who owns it only wants $65 for it, if it is in damn near perfect condition I am going to get it, but if its not Ill still consider it, now because of the rarity of this item I will not use it for airsoft but do you guys think its a good buy and would it really be accurate for a ww2 USMC, plus would it just be cool to have.

TommyGunner; NO, stick to repros for reenacting. But if you want it just for your collection, go for it. I would buy the repro because as you said it's rare and even the repro will go for big bucks later on.

Oh I defiantly wont be using that during any combat, its gonna be for display and photos, I am however having the Surplus store guys look for a Khaki Sheath to put on my belt during combat. Oh and I forgot to mention the Leather Sheath also comes with a pre WW2 machete in it ;D, apparently its bare metal because it was made before the Machetes had that black sealant put on them (someone please tell me what that term is) TommyGunner
