Thanks for the review. I just got one and am also pretty happy with it. I will be redoing the bakelite and metal finish soon. I don't mind the low capacity mag. Its better then high caps. The 50 round mags seem pretty readily available. Unfortunately the cheap king arm mags are out of stock everywhere. Hopefully that will change soon.

I haven't used mine in a battle yet,but I'm sure I'll blow through all six in no time in a sustained firefight. :-( But hey, its better than the 400+ round high caps I used for my STG!

I used to have one with 7 of the lo caps because the mids were not out yet. I gotta say it was way to easy to blow through the mags being only 50 rounds or so. I think mids are a nice compromise. Bob you might try playing with just one midcap or blocking off some of the internal resovoir of your hicap to make it midcap capacity. It will go a long way to help you feel that realism.

I also have this gun, I had a problem with being able to pull the mag out of the gun without pushing the ejection button. Easy fix if your gun is doing it too, just PM me and ill tell you how

i would hate to necro, but i wouldnt want to make a new thread now that half my questions are answered. 1.how would you rate the gearbox quality? is it comparable to lets say a JG at least? 2. when the gun is split, does the exposed gearbox pose any problem? 3. im looking to get this gun for cqb (not ww2 reinactment). but i will also field it. what would be the maximum range of this gun? (not effective range) 4.can a 9.6v nunchuck fit in the gun? thanks guys!

1.how would you rate the gearbox quality? is it comparable to lets say a JG at least? gearbox is fine and uses standard gearsets 2. when the gun is split, does the exposed gearbox pose any problem? No 3. im looking to get this gun for cqb (not ww2 reinactment). but i will also field it. what would be the maximum range of this gun? (not effective range) Not a long range AEG, like a stock MP5. But, if you aren't pusing it for WW2 games at all there are much better CQB guns out there that you can mount dots, lights and lazers too 4.can a 9.6v nunchuck fit in the gun? No, you need a small mini type battery

Hello folks,
I must say, while my first AGM MP 40 lasted quite long (around 2 years), I recently opened it and found that the gearbox had degraded considerably. parts of it had cracked and little bits of pot metal were coming off. We also have another member in our group who's gun's exterior has begun to exhibit the same degrading. I think it's hit and miss. Some of the guns in our group are fine.

If you change the barrel and modify the hop, you can get as much range as a rifle. After the barrel mod i've been able to use my MP40 in field games effectively.

(got hooked on ww2 guns through nazi zombies as you can tell by my name)

i have two of these that I mostly use as loaner/ rental guns. They both continue to work fine and have held up real well. Spare magazines are cheap and since they were quite common in the German Army (especially late in WW2) and continued to see use in many later conflicts they are great ICONIC weapons. i am very pleased with them. Take care when reassembling them when you replace the batteries so wiring doesn't get pinched. that however is a pretty universal statement for all AEGS.

Would you recommend this as a first gun to a newcomer in airsoft ww2? I know this is an old thread but am looking for a good weapon for axis group & would appreciate any feedback, this seems to be a popular first weapon from the German selection

At the present time it is probably the best choice for cost, overall quality of the replica and skirmishability. This of course leads it to being far and above the most common german airsoft weapon but as an intial weapon for a new Axis player. Let us know what you think of it once you get it.

Got one, and it is pretty poop! Very inaccurate out of the box! very wobbly at many areas! it took my many hotglue on the inside shells to get the woble out, the stock still wobles like hell. very cheap paint flakes off by rubbing it with your finger! I dont recommend this AEG, better wait for the KWA GBB instead.

Everything of course is relative. This is a very inexpensive replica and in my opinion represents a good value. It is pretty sloppy overall and just like a SMG, doesn't provide the accuracy one would find in a quality airsoft rifle.
