I've got a few questions about the Thompson magazines, are the standard 60rd. mags supposed to resemble the 20rd. or the 30rd. mags, and do you have to wind the standard mags?

I think 30rounders and no you don't wind a standard, you wind highcaps, you load standards with a speed loader.

Is there any way to convert these to look like 20rds?

Don't use highcaps, there wasn't ever a 190 Thompson mag, the standards are double the real cap and thats enough. Only if star made 20round or 30round real cap mags

The only reason I need the ones that look like 20rds. is so they will fit in my ammo pouchs. It's a shame STAR dosen't make 20 or 30rd. magazines for the Thompson. I've tried to contact them about making them but I haven't got a reply yet, and probably never will. In my personal opinion I don't like hi-caps for a number of reasons: a. They are more expensive than the standards b. Ammo limitations in some events make hi-caps a pain in the rump c. They are noisy d. I really hate winding them Anyway, thanks for you opinions, I guess I'll ether have to save for the 190rd. or stick it out until STAR makes 20rds.

I assume you have the 5 cell ammuntion pouch for the Thompson? If that is the case you can still use the 30 round magazines in them. This was done quite often during the war and works just fine and they wont fall out. Just fold the flaps around the side of the mags.

Hey hold on there, Im currently working on a project that will solve the mag loadout problems, I am currently trying to make reall cap 20rnd mags and reall cap 50rnd Drum mags, when I complete the project I will be posting a how to so that everyone is able to make them, and they wont be expensive either (if the project works)
