Its quite a hard project. You'd have to get sheets of plastic for the whole reciever part.

If you are willing to spend that much on it, screw PVC, ABS, wood, ect. Go buy a 1919 parts kit. They are about $500. Buy an M14. It won't be easy, but I had planned to do it for a long time and just never got around to it. It would be much nicer looking and heavier and look and feel real.. becuase it is.

You'd use a pistol belt. An M1 Garand belt, properly called a Cartridge Belt is only used when you have an M1 Garand or a 1903 Springfield.

No, there is the Machine gunner and Assistant MG gunner. plus you will have other guys with .30 ammo. I have heard of guys carrying 100rd belts in GP bags. But mainly there would be one belt loaded almost all the time, and at least two close ammo belts or cans.

The 30 Cal was a fairly common weapon in an Infantry unit relative to the number of squad members typically deployed. With attrition it was not unusal for a 13 man squad to field half that many or fewer and MGs were typically assigned down from the weapons platoon and attached to the squads. Hence one 30 Cal for every seven or eight men or so is not at all unreasonable. It was such a critical weapon that while other weapons might be left behind it would not be.
In those rare airsoft games where events dictate low cap or real cap magazines, limited ammo and insist that most players fire on semi, a crew served MG with a box mag becomes a realistically vital weapon.
Unfortunately with most airsoft games there is no true advantage over the, box magged, fully automatic, mini sub machine gun spray and pray machine most airsofters want to field.
