Hey Collision, nice kit. I am guessing the 30cal is Airsharp? Its color looks kind of funny or is that just the way the picture came out? I guess after you get your insignia and helmet you'll be on your way. I am also working on a Market Garden kit. I think I am going to do 82nd. Is your M43 Jacket and pants original or is it a repro.

Thanks. yeah, one of their last runs. Once I get the insignia I'm going to start airsofting with an 82nd unit.
Should have a couple more kits coming to completion soon.
The 30cal looks like that because the original color was like a glittery black and so I painted it a dark grey(The can was that color) and it came out like that so I never got a chance to re paint it.
The pants/jacket are ATF.

Collision, you look good! Quick pointer: I suggest you move your pistol belt to just below your belly button. Ever noticed that that is where your grandpa wears his trousers? Because of the way the uniform was designed, when you wear it as low as you have it, the jacket looks too small. Click

Who in here thinks a stuart out of a golf cart seems easy?

That will not be easy me thinks. Well, I suppose it depends on how much modification to the cart you're gunna do primary to making it into the Stuart, and what materials you will making the tank with.

Hey Rambo, way to go. Nice impression. Other then M43 boots and insignia I think you need a GP Bag or a 5 cell pouch and a meat can pouch for your haversack. A white snow cover might look good to. Your looking great though. PS you can get a meat can pouch here for $7.00 onlinemilitaria.net/shopexd.asp?id=789&bc=no Hope that helps -sgttom

Looking good there Seff. One suggestion I have is to place your E-tool onto your haversack.

Nice Impression Seff. I see you got an original cartridge belt. Are your pants HBT or something else? Hairy Apple your lookin top notch. The only thing I see wrong is your helmet's chin straps. Nice M1 Garand is it one of 2nd Bats or your own build? -sgttom

Seff, you may want to move your etool onto your haversack. Eventhough they are designed for 1910 shovels a 1943 should fit fine. That way it wont hit the back of your leg (it looks like it would in the picture).
Another suggestion is to just dump the 1911, holster, and magazine pouch if it's just a regular rifleman impression. The odds of a regular rifleman having one were pretty slim. I've also never seen the magazine pouch placed there in original pictures, just by reenactors/airsofters. It may be a good idea to remove the magazine pouch.

Thanks for the kind words, guys. Shovel: It an original cover, which for some reason doesn't fit on my repro haversack. Believe me, I tried . The current placement is not unheard of, and as a bonus it means I will keep my E-tool with me when I drop my pack - again, also a common thing to do. The 1911 is something I decided to keep partly because I'm portraying an NCO, partly because It's handy for airsofting. I know I shouldn't technically have it. I'll remove the ammo pouch. I'm surprised none of you noticed that I was wearing M1943 suspenders as well as a haversack I was pressed for time and didn't get my suspenders off in time. Sgttom: Yes, HBT - a set of wools is on the to-do list. The belt was mislabeled on Ebay so I got it for $26. Relish: It's the view from my back yard on a frosty morning Thanks for the suggestions, guys.

The e-tool securred to the web belt was extremely common as typically during assaults or lengthy movements, packs and bed rolls were left behind to be brought up to the nights defensive position (hopefully) Before that would typically happen, the unit would expect to dig in and at least every other man would have a shovel. Second only to his rifle, the e-tool was considered the most important piece of equipment a GI had. Followed perhaps by his steel pot.

Yep. Etools are always useful. I normally carry mine folded over on my belt (BAR, cartridge, or pistol) when I dont have a pack or suspenders. across the X on my back if I'm wearing suspenders (like you see legionarres did during dein bein phu), and if I'm wearing a haversack it goes on the normal spot.

Hey collisi0n, Your pants are M43 right? I don't seem to see the rigger modified pockets like you had in your other pictures. Your doing Airborne right? About the boots, most soldiers used mink oil and most originals have a very dark color from being dubbed so much. So if you dubbed them before every event they'd probably get a good color.

My M-1910 is OD Green, and I believe the M-1943s were the same.

A vast majority of the covers were OD as well. Variations do occur, so don't beat your self to death over it.

Yeah m43's were supposed to fit big. It was intended so that you could layer clothes underneath them. Typically you see AT LEAST a T-shirt, wool shirt, and 5-button sweater under them. Larger sizes have larger pockets as well. I can fit an entire K-ration in 1 upper pocket and 2 in 1 lower pocket.
The boots must be dubbed in order to be waterproof. Snoseal is a good modern day product that works great for dubbing. Over time and use, the boots will darken greatly. A guy in my unit has had 1 pair of double buckles for over 10 years and they're practically black from dubbing.

They were painted OD, but after heavy use the paint chips off and you see the bare wood and metal. If the paint is chipped of a bottle of Green spray paint is an easy fix. I got mine already painted for $10 but I've seen them around for $5. collisi0n it would also look better if you stuffed your pockets with something.

Yes dubbing will be good. I have used Hubberds shoe grease on mine and mink oil. I made it almost all the way through a battle of the bulge event with one layer of Hubberds i put on last year and one fresh layer of mink oil which i put on a day before.

Good news, there's going to be another Battle of the bulge game on the 3rd, so with luck it might snow I took the pockets off them because it's for an army impression and I'm ordering a new batch of airborne M43s from WWIIImp. So in a few weeks I should have some vastly improved pics.
